I can’t imagine the CDs hold much value, maybe put them on gumtree as free to collect so they are as a minimum used again?

Books are a different matter. What type of books?

It’s the principle for me mate. I’ve got about 300 CD’s which cost anything up to £15 each. I priced the sale on MM and they offered pennies for them. No problem with that if you’re prepared to give away a perfectly good product so that they can make a big profit but I’ll keep them stored. If it was a choice I’d give them to charity rather than let MM have them.

Are there charity collection bins at Morrisons or Sainsburys? I usually put stuff like that in the British Heart Foundation bin near me.
