The thing is if you play from the back you want a midfielder to be brave and drop deep to collect it. It's just a harsh learning curve when you choose the wrong decision in there.
I think Batth should've gone back to Patto but it's neither here nor there now, gotta keep tight and hit them whenever we can now.

Thought we looked good first half. Can't complain with the red. 2nd time that's happened with Neil in as many games. If that's Evans he wouldn't lose it but even if he did he'd know it's pointless pulling the lad back.

Learning curve for Neil. Not sure what AN can do. We still carry a threat even with 10. Maybe Simms off for Wright and push O Nien into midfield. Pritchard could play off Stewart with the ball and drop in without.
I'd keep Simms on, we need to score. I'd rather go for it and lose 3-0 than play it safe.

It strikes me that it’s relevant what the attacker does. If he stays on his feet (as the contact isn’t strong enough to pull down) is it still a red? Players put hands on shoulders and shirts throughout a game like that and it’s not a foul. I’m being genuine btw, not entirely sure what the rule is here
If that was Stewart or simms pulled down we’re screaming for a sending off.

Absolute stonewall red unfortunately, always going to be given.

A learning curve for DN, however it’s not the first time it’s happened.

Patterson

Gooch
Bath
Wright
Cirkin

O'Nien
Embleton
Pritchard

Stewart
Simms

Clarke off, Wright on.

is what I'd do
I think we need Clarkes pace to carry the ball but agree with the premise. Maybe Clarke in the wide CM position instead of Embleton or Pritchard, both of who rarely last much of the second half anyway

Idiot. We were the better team for most of the first half. Negative beyond belief.
Just cannot reconcile what I’ve seen with my own eyes with what that poster is writing? ‘Mauled’? I’m with you- thought we looked the better of two well matched teams until the red card.
I’m not going to form any conclusions about our team, the season or Dan Neil based on one mistake or how we get on with ten men in this second half.
