Can someone explain crypto in layman's terms please? I thought that's where Superman came from.

There's a writeup in Wikipedia under "cryptocurrency", starts with the sentence:

A cryptocurrency ... or crypto ... is a digital currency designed to work as a medium of exchange through a computer network that is not reliant on any central authority, such as a government or bank, to uphold or maintain it.

I can excuse people getting excited though, it's part of being a football fan. I can excuse people being sceptical too, given some of our luck with recent owners.

I also think there's a bit of race for people to be able to say "Never trusted them from day one and I was hammered by posters on here".

Hopefully it all works out and we never have to discuss who distrusted the new owners first. Let's see what happens.

Whoever comes in you can just say you don't trust them 100%, then your future-proofed.
It’s just tagged as JS. I tried a reverse image search etc and no further forward
Google lens?

Hope the crypto stuff is wide of the mark: it’s scammy as owt and would give me pause about the new shareholders before they’ve even arrived.

No point thinking about it tbh.

It's just a handy thing for people to get all concerned about now Donald is going.

Or to put a bookmark down so they can come back tapping their nose.

Fans being able to purchase shares in crypto-trading (as reported by Roker Report) fills me with dread as to the credibility of these potential new owners mind.

Just my personal opinion but it's a big red flag for me already, if true.
Let's wait and see what it looks like if it's true. But I do agree with you. I'm just unsure why they'd do it

Need to see what it actually is really.
Crypto is basically the modern way of paying for things. In this case it would be a new way of fans basically paying for shares in the club. Its a good and innovative way of getting the fans involved in my opinion
Not necessarily like. If you're just buying a coin then how is it actually linked to club ownership?

More chance of me owning the club than him

Unless you have huge debts and future litigation you're probably considerably wealthier.

I can't believe people are so crypto-concerned when there's no evidence of anything.

Even if it happened it would be a token gesture to make people feel involved imo.

The crypto would be used as a Direct swap for buying shares with money. Theres loads of things going this way in the world it was only a matter of time before football got involved too. The new owners might deal in crypto etc so might want to bring it into the club

How does this work grumpy with new investors ?I understand how Donald could sign away his voting rights ..but how does that work in practice with new investors? and who would buy in under those circumstances?

Not every investor wants to be actively involved. In practice, any investor in a public company delegates the running of the business to another person. It's likely that an incoming investor would get a seat for themselves (or a representative) on the board of SAFC (Sartori is on there, and Vumbaca is thought to represent Donald and Methven). It's already been stated the KLD will remain as chairman, and the board is loaded with his appointees (MLD, Treuer, Levin, Davison and, in all probability Sartori). As such, he's de facto running the show.
