Lascelles was touted as a £50million player/England player by Newcastle fans. That was it.

It's what you lot do. Your fans build up players as being better than they are. You did it with Ben Arfa, Tiote, Matt Longstaff. Players who wouldn't stand out at another Premier side.

Bruno is another example. St Maximin another, Willock until he signed full time, Joe "best box to box midfielder in the league" Linton another. You wouldn't say they were world class if they were wearing any other clubs colours. No one would.

Truth is they are big fish in a small pond. And your fans try to convince everyone else that they're better than they are. But there's always an excuse, "under a different manager", "once he settles in", "now he's realising he needs to be a team player".

Then one day the penny drops. Most of your squad is mediocre and has been for some time. The league doesn't lie.

Trippier is a good defender and good signing mind, I'll give you that. Wilson does what he's paid to do and does it well... Dubravka and Darlow are competent keepers. The rest you all vastly overrated.
It’s just what the mags do, sign a player and he’s suddenly ‘world class’. They did the same with Colback, as soon as he signed, they couldn’t believe he wasn’t in the next England squad. Sean Longstaff was supposedly the 2nd coming, his brother Matty was even better after he scored against Man Utd. Deluded isn’t strong enough a word to describe them.

And the media lap it up to an extent and feed the beast.

Then when said player isn't actually as good/successful as they make out.... find something to blame. (Ie he'd be better with better players around him).

Anything but accept that someone in a black and white shirt might actually not be that good.

Look at the way they defend the signing of Wood. "He played his part in a successful season", "Eddie Howe hasn't got the best out of him yet".

I admire the loyalty to their players, but it's mostly delusion and an unwillingness to accept that they have a very mediocre squad.

I was at that game in the Fulwell but I know one thing. If 4 Mags were jumping up celebrating in the Clock Stand they would have got lynched. I'm calling Bullshit. Like the 5000 they reckon they had at the Gillingham match. Absolute bollocks.
I was in the clockstand that match. There was a few in that got sussed at start of match, they got kicked to f#ck ,then scrambled onto pitch.None left in by the time they scored

Casuals who in the picture look like your average mag tramps.

Casuals dressed like 'Bjorn Borg'. Er golf jumpers aye, tennis gear?

We equalise and not a peep.

Aye, all very believable
The clip of them man.Which casuals looked like that? They look like they are modelling for british home stores, whilst on an outing to the library. That article must be a pisstake

So, as it stands, Pogba is not a top player? Too many managers don’t seem to rate him
That all depends on how you want to view it.
If you want to decide whether a top player becomes not a top player depending on whether the club he's at is having issues and his attitude and form aren't right then that's up to you.
To me, he is a top player regardless.
The same goes for Maxi.
So what makes him a top player 🤷‍♂️
His ability makes him a top player.
His attitude needs to change but he is a top player, to me.

The earth is flat to you though.

Both wouldn't get near a side in European places Burn is a solid enough bottom half plodder has good games has some awful games as for Targett theres about 15 left backs better than him in the PL £15m for a player Villa could wait to get shot of
Burn has shown he's more than a plodder and certainly can become a top-half stalwart.
Of course, there are many left-backs better than Targett in the world. I've never said there isn't.
Same as Burn. There are many center-halves better than Burn, obviously.

As for Villa not being able to wait to get shot. Targett came to Newcastle who was trailing Villa with them signing Digne and co and Targett helped Newcastle not only render relegation a distant past but also relegated Aston Villa to a few places below them, so Aston Villas's loss is Newcastle's gain.
To be fair Burn was probably their best signing in terms of influence. The defence was all over the shop. With regards to taking blood money, like the golfers, it says a lot about SKY too. They are playing the self righteous godfathers of sport with guilt tripping and rightly so, but they let the Mags off as it hasn't broken up the premier league. Point being sky have the PGA tournaments. If they end up showing LIV events, they are as hypocritical as the next bunch of corporates like Stavely.
All people are hypocrites. It's just dependent on what situation rears its head to a set of hypocritical views.

Lascelles was touted as a £50million player/England player by Newcastle fans. That was it.
When clubs were sniffing around him he had a £50 million price tag slapped on him.
Whether a club would've paid it is irrelevant now as it didn't happen but I basically show how easy it is for a player to be up there and how easy it can be to drop from it.
It's what you lot do. Your fans build up players as being better than they are.
Not at all.
If they are bad they're called out. If they're good they're lauded. If the bad become good they're lauded. If the good becomes bad, they're dug at. That's all football clubs, not just Newcastle.
You did it with Ben Arfa, Tiote, Matt Longstaff. Players who wouldn't stand out at another Premier side.
Ben Arfa was a top player. He would've enhanced any team but for his temperament. Tiote was another class act midfield enforcer that most clubs would've been happy to have as part of their squad. Matty Longstaff had his head turned and paid the price for it. He was an excellent prospect up until that time and rightly should've been lauded.

Bruno is another example.
Fantastic player who would not be out of place in any football team in the world.
St Maximin another
Class act.
, Willock until he signed full time, Joe "best box to box midfielder in the league" Linton another.
Both are very very good players. Willick is a fantastic player on his day. His problem as it stands is basically inconsistency. Joelinton has turned from a trier and a lone striker on the bad end of a bad setup to a new midfield dynamo and I am very happy with both.
You wouldn't say they were world class if they were wearing any other clubs colours. No one would.
What does world-class actually mean?
Does it mean a Messi or does it mean playing for a country?
Can you clarify what you think world-class is and we can debate that?

Truth is they are big fish in a small pond.
Are they good or too good for Newcastle? And are you saying Newcastle United is the small pond? Or are you saying the premier league is the small pond. Or are you saying outside the top 4 is the small pond?

And your fans try to convince everyone else that they're better than they are.
Give me some examples.
But there's always an excuse, "under a different manager", "once he settles in", "now he's realising he needs to be a team player".
You only have to take a look at what Eddie Howe's done in such a short time to see the results of that.
Then one day the penny drops. Most of your squad is mediocre and has been for some time. The league doesn't lie.
I agree. Most of the squad is mediocre compared to the top 6 or so clubs but then again nobody's saying any different. I know what we need to be rid of.
Trippier is a good defender and good signing mind, I'll give you that. Wilson does what he's paid to do and does it well... Dubravka and Darlow are competent keepers. The rest you all vastly overrated.
All those are decent but there's plenty more and they deserve to be bigged up.
It's all about opinions though.

Doesn't matter how good the rest of the team is if he doesn't pass to them.
Which you'll notice he has been doing just that in the latter games.
Howe is getting through to him and it seems to be working.
If he stays I think he'll be a different player in terms of attitude and team tactical mindset rather than just individual. A mix and match with him is the key, I think.
It doesn't matter how good the rest of the team is if he goes missing the minute he is tackled "hard but fair".
I agree. He's neither use nor ornament when he does that. It's what I dislike about him and I hope to see what I saw in his last few games where he looked to have taken a lot onboard.
One trick pony...
Far from it to be fair.
The earth is flat to you though.

"Burn can become a top half stalwart"
Let's see.
Declan Rice plays for a top club.😏
Ahhh right.
So West Ham is a top club now?
When does a club become anything other?
Past 9th?
Clarify and we can debate it.

Well every single deluded gravy swigger in the country thinks Newcastles a big club, sorry huge club.

So surely that makes West Ham one by default.🤔

I thought you mentioned a top club.
Sunderland is a big club. There are many.
But you mentioned players being top players who have to play at top clubs.
What is a top club and where does it stop at? 4th/5th/9th?
Can you clarify?
