Not Sunderland born but follow the lads.

20th season as a supporter and I've never set foot in the UK.

I'm a real winner.
Presumably the North Carolina one? I fly into Raleigh when I visit a factory in Danville - where everybody seems to be related!

How many other SMB members not born in the North East but still follow Sunderland?....

I moved up here in the early 90s from Yorkshire. Sat in the away end for many a game as initially couldnt stand the club. Gradually started to go to games with my mates at work, my own club went bankrupt and Sunderland got under my skin.

Love the bones of the place now.
Who did you originally support?

Born Glasgow to Sunderland father and Glasgow mother. Lived around Scotland then age 9-11 in Newcastle  Sunderland grandparents, 9 aunts/Uncles 35 cousins, 20 second cousins.

Not born, but bred ;)

Born in Gillingham , Dad was from Bill Quay but a Sunderland supporter, went to my first game against Pompey in 1957 or 58 ,been a fan ever since .
For years in NZ never saw another Sunderland fan but know from this forum that there's quite a few living here now.

Born in York. Moved all over the country as a kid. Been down south for 20 years. Literally could have picked whoever I liked to support, but took my dad's advice (he's from Durham) and chose Sunderland.

The utter, utter bastard.

Still, days like Sat make up for it. Don't understand why people bother supporting big teams. They'll never get close to what that felt like.

Was in an orphanage. Was beat regular by the master, who was a newcastle supporter. Hated me, said no one would want to adopt me. Said me ma didn't want me. Gave me all the worst jobs to do, had raggy clothes.
Then one day this couple came and adopted me. They were from Kenton, but life got no better. I went to school in shoes with holes in, no breakfast. The couple were mag suppoters and I vowed to get even with these people and when I grew up. I started to support SUNDERLAND just to annoy them and never looked back.
Well that's the story I'm telling:lol:

Born in Glasgow and supported Rangers as a boy. Jim Baxter, my hero at Rangers, moved south to Sunderland and my parents moved south around the same time but to the Isle of Wight. So I came along to Sunderland with Jim really. Got no ties to the north east otherwise so I'm just a long term glory hunter really. When does the glory start by the way?

Born in paisley. Moved to Sunderland at 4 and left at 18.
Born in Glasgow, lived until 17 in Paisley, toured the north of England until 1988, Sunderland ever since.

Kids were born in Manchester but here since they were 2.

One has even got his wife's whole family in NZ supporting us.

Ha'way for the Everton match

Yep. From Chicago originally but have lived in the RDU area for most of the past 14 years. My wife is from Durham and has family on the NC side of the border near Danville. Definitely feels like "The South" up there.

Born in Shotton, Flintshire. Brought up to support Liverpool but went to Sunderland Poly and married a Sunlun girl (no). Legs, bollocks and nookie all threatened when I laughed like hell after the 1992 FA Cup Final.

Supported Sunderland ever since as my penance. A life full of pain every Saturday and major stress at the end of each season. Should have thought a bit more about it. I could have used a wheelchair and my arms would still have reached my groin.

Live in canada. Dad was from Sunderland and in the army. Used to go to roker park and stand in the fulwell end whenever he was home. Once I moved to Canada we would always try to orchestrate our trips back around games. Get up every weekend at stupid early times drunk as fuck to watch them haha. Always have and always will!!
