How many other SMB members not born in the North East but still follow Sunderland?....

I moved up here in the early 90s from Yorkshire. Sat in the away end for many a game as initially couldnt stand the club. Gradually started to go to games with my mates at work, my own club went bankrupt and Sunderland got under my skin.

Love the bones of the place now.
My mate Imran is a massive lads fan, (not massive as in 'Beefy'), he is from Leeds, (Chapeltown) Been a Lads fan since the early 80's. Lives up here now.

Born and bred in Coventry of all places. Mam was from Sunderland dad was from Sunniside. Never spent longer than two weeks in Sunderland when we used to visit my grandparents each summer.
Strangely feel more at home when ever I'm in Sunderland than I ever do in Coventry.

Similar for me. Born in Nottingham, grew up in Chester. Parents and majority of family from Sunderland. Likewise, I feel at home in Sunderland and 'away' in Nottingham despite spending quite a bit of time there since 2000 (mother in law moved there).

Born in Nottingham support Sunderland cause my dad dad who was also born in Nottingham. My Grandfather is from the Isle of man and my grandmother from Surrey both moved to Sunderland when very young and have a huge family scattered all over the place.

You wanna breathe a sigh of relief (and fresh air) then mate.

You could have easily ended up a smoggy

Ha ha, most people where I grew up were Hull and Leeds fans so could have been much worse....Scarborough was the retirement/reject home for Sunderland players........Steven Brodie, John Kay, Chris Tate, Paul Heckingbottom, Garry Bennet, Steven Capper; we had loads of em....At one point in a play off season we had 6 former Sunderland players in our first team I think.
