Maybe those regular games are whats put him in a better place to play regularly in mens football, that's why we've had so many players out on loan, diamond, Mumba, Robson, Embleton and our un23's have been so weak.

the problem is we'll seemingly take any fee offered to us, rather than utilise and benefit some of our own young players.
I think the problem may be even worse than we take any fee offered. There have been strong rumours that we have actively pushed selling some of our top young players.
If true and I don’t know if it is or not, that would be the worst thing the current owners have done imo.

Made his debut at 16 (came on as captain) at the same time as Donald took over. Donald said he was someone we could build the team around for years to come.

Started the next season, and more than held his own. Was then put into the under 23s and barely featured for the 1st team other than the checkatrade or whatever it is.

Jurassic Parkinson has no intention of playing youngsters, and the chubby chancer Donald saw the £300k fee and his eyes lit up. Disgrace what they’ve done to our club, the damage will last for years. Mumba joined highly rated youngsters like Greenwood, Stephenson, Hugill, Pye and of course Maja in leaving us for pennies

Stop depressing me 😞

Thought he was absolutely average when he played in the league for us, though he was only 16/17 at the time. Obviously he needed time and not just chucking in at the deep end, given at the time he was just entering his first full season of full time training.

Selling him for 300k or whatever looks like another 'master stroke' by the current idiots at the club. Though whisper it quietly and the people running football things at the club were being called allsorts last season when they shifted Mumba to fullback from central midfield. Looks like they might actually found a role for him where he excels as a younger lad away from the hustle and bustle of central midfield

He has played loads at fullback all through the year groups

anyway suggesting that was an issue to complain about doesn't know what they are talking about

absolute disgraceful mismanagement by Parkinson and Donald

Once again the standard he doesn't want to be here line, to justfiy them selling him and pocketing the cash

where did that money go?

There is zero pathway for young players at this football club, and the owner wants to sell them at the first opporunity he got

Its an absolute disgrace that we flogged our best young talent for 300k
It does look like a wind up mind

We deserve to be wound up, the club is a f***ing disgrace. The flogging of a whole generation of talent is the most disgraceful thing to have happened at this club in decades.

It is disgraceful and truly unforgivable

If that's the case (and most aren't aware like I'm not of where he's played) then there was quite a bit of criticism for moving him to fullback from posters on here, stating it was utter stupidity, negative etc.

I'm not sure what they said at the time to be fair and I hadn't exactly been overawed by the little I'd seen of him, though given he'd done quite well in the Checkatrade. He was very young though and when he did play he was in his first season of fulltime training, so he needed time and opportunities.

Given he was supposed to be one of our better prospects seeing him flogged for 300k and not given any real opportunities whilst we're bringing in players like Dobson for cash is a disgrace and I involve Ross in that because he dumped him too and was someone who came out talking about Dobson being one they'd chased all summer.

There was a buzz when he arrived, but a kind of resignation when after the first 100 times of asking they weren’t introduced into the first team.

It is absolutely stunning that Farke’s scouts saw Mumba’s potential from across the country, another division and in our reserves when Richard Hill, Stewart Donald and three managers saw fuck all from point blank distance, only perking up when a cheque for £300k was waved in front of their noses.
3 managers? Ross, Parkinson and who else? (Coleman actually played him in the championship?)

Will spare you all the 'always had a soft spot for Sunderland' nonsense and I know it always looks a bit weird when fans of other teams sign up to a forum!

But really curious about Bali Mumba and what his situation was at Sunderland?

I vaguely remembering us signing him for a few hundred grand, and a few of our fans said he looked decent at right back in pre-season.

All of a sudden he's come on for the last 25 minutes yesterday against Swansea, who are a bloody good team at the minute, and basically torn them to shreds down the left side, turned them inside out and our plan B for that game when we dominated possession but were struggling to break Swansea down was basically just give it to Mumba!

Started the move from which we scored the only goal of the game.

I don't want to get too excited, and definitely not here to antagonise, but I can honestly say that this was the most impressive debut I've seen from a kid at Norwich in 35 years of following and I've seen Craig Bellamy, James Maddison, Max Aarons, Danny Mills, Todd Cantwell etc... all come into the side over the years.

Our scouting system has obviously identified him as a potential gem, but was he highly thought of at Sunderland? Looks like he's gone from playing for North Shields to looking like he simply has to start for us against Middlesbrough!
Our owners would sell the 1973 FA Cup if it was in our ownership.

Fuck me, you get everywhere.

Guys, this is Norwich's biggest troll, don't feed him.

He's actually from Great Yarmouth, which makes Sunderland look like Alderley Edge, and he spends every hour of his day on the internet - pity him.

He played for us when he was only 16 and looked a fantastic prospect . We had big hopes for the lad but like everything at Sunderland he seemed to stagnate and this wasn’t helped by the fact he was not given a chance at first team level and played out of position in the u21 .
We all still had very high hopes for the lad but like anyone worth any value at our club , he was sold off at the first opportunity by our owners probably to pay for the leccy bill or something.
You definitely have a prospect on your hands and I hope he turns out as good as we thought he would .

Classic really, when they said Dortmund model they knew that would buy time while they did the total opposite - wankers
