Northern Echo, Borini deal..

My concern with leaving an open offer on the table is with regards to alternative targets should target A fail. Targets B C and D could move to other clubs while we are waiting for A, then what would we be left with, target E? Hopefully Poyet has an alterative 'list' with sufficient depth.
probably end up what we always do and bring in below average players. I do think they need to look at bring someone in now though, Borini is dragging on to long and as you say other targets will be gone.

he is holding all the cards at the moment and we are letting him, especially if we are leaving the offer on the table till deadline day. The only we we would be dealt a better hand is if we say to him, answer today or the deal is off. If nothing comes along he runs the risk of pissing Liverpool fans and staff off, whilst rotting in the reserves. I fail to see why a player with so little recognition in the game can hold a club to ransom for over 4 weeks. We put an over the top offer in to pry off any one else, but lets be honest here, he really isn't worth risking our whole transfer strategy on.

Despite really wanting us to sign him I have to agree with you, we can't just leave the bid on the table in the hope no one else will hijack the deal. As much as my heart says not to issue an ultimatum for fear it will backfire, my head says fuck it, we need to leave sufficient time to move on to other targets. What do you think Poyet will do, my feeling is that he will keep on waiting and hoping.

6th choice? More like 4th and possibly 3rd on the wing

He's clearly wanting a better team to come in

This is my feeling too. He'll come if there are no better options but he's waiting until the last minute. This is why he hasn't said no yet because while he's prepared to come, he wants to go somewhere better.

Wouldn't be surprised if we loan him last minute, that way he isn't committed to 4/5 year contract an it's gives him a season to showcase his ability. While his agent is putting feelers out all over, anywhere he fancies playing.

He will have to move on sometime marra, my opinion is that he must be getting encouraging vibes from Borini. Doesn't mean Fabio won't be stringing him along though

Sorry, I was including Stirling and Lallana, but they're more midfielders and I'm surprised that Sinclair is so young!!! Still as fourth choice is he likely to have a squad number? Rodgers obviously doesn't rate him ........

Maybe he doesn't want to come. Seen nowt to suggest he does
If this is the case then someone at the club needs shooting - both for not finding out if he wants to come before submitting a bid and subsequently for not moving on when he didn't come for talks. Surely, surely this is just a game of brinkmanship.

We will soon did out today. Local media think today is a crunch day

I wouldn't be against this in all honesty, we'd have had him for at least 2 years then and you never know, he might sign permanently at the end of the season depending on how well we do/what other interest there is in him.

I'm surprised that there doesn't seem to be anyone else fancies him given the season he had with us, maybe £14m has put others off.

despite having a good season last year, maybe overplaying his hand... i reckon he's been hoping that a better offer is coming along (team in europe... which i doubt ) ergo patience is exhausted and the club look quite desperate
what concerns may is the lack of a plan b ( more loans mooted) .. which has served us ok in the past but you have to look at that options as a lesser one after making such a fuss about borini

I would like to think Plan B would be a permanent. I wouldn't even be looking to take Borini on a 2nd loan if I'm honest

maybe thats the stumbling block mate... maybe plan a was land borini on a perm freeing up loan slots

its degenerated into a fiasco.... and its needs a quick incisive bit of business to assure all concered that a junta of trained chimps aren't running the recruitment....

this episode has a wiff of desperation

If we are having to set deadlines, it seems that things arent really pushing towards an amicable transfer to us in any regard.

It was nice at first when I expected Borini to come here straight away after our office, but with all this waiting around I'd rather we just moved on to other things. It might be a case of sorting ourselves out now, hold on to the money, then come January if he hasnt kicked a ball for them, go in again with a reduced offer.

I'm thinking that as well, however I'd be amazed if anyone else bid £14 million for him. Still have a feeling he'll end up here, but it's clear as day that we're not his preferred choice.

Unless you consider football clubs to be involved in the slavery trade ( like Sol Campbell did once) I just don't get the fact that a player would move somewhere he wasn't prepared or happy to go. He has a contract at Liverpool so if SAFC is a a destination he would not consider he can refuse and stay where he is.

lets remove the £14m offer and offer him a season long loan to put himself in the shop window.Could work out ok for us just paying wages instead of a transfer fee also gives use more time to convince him to stay.
