Northern Echo, Borini deal..

Apparently the hold up was this loyalty payment, unsure if thats still the case but a week or so ago this was the problem. In fsirness that article in The Northern Echo is just complete and utter guess work, i trust what Poyet was saying on Friday to be correct and the club are very confident he will sign
If I am honest mate, I'm very sceptical over this loyalty payment rumour. Simply don't buy it, if he is contracted for it then they have to pay it.

Also, nobody else wouldnt pay £14m for him, so them giving him his pay off would still net them more than selling him for less or loaning.

Just seems to be people clutching at straws to me

But then the article says "the Borini deal will still be left on the table until transfer deadline day" I expect him to wait until the last minute to see what offers come in and then if nothing is available he will come. The question is do we really want someone who couldn't give a shit about Sunderland and paid £14m? I'd rather spend it on Danny Welbeck who was here on loan and did really well and has scored alot of goals since.

Borini isn't very clever is he?

He's doing what anyone else on here would do.

He's hanging about seeing if a better deal from a different club comes along - it's about £££. He doesn't care about SAFC - why should he? He said he won't sign permanently but may come on loan - again, hoping a better deal comes along at some point.

Simple really and commonsense from the bloke IMO

Once a upon a time, in a little town in Italy, a young boy named Fabio dreamed of becoming a professional footballer. Whereas other little boys dreamed of playing for Juventus or AC Milan, little Fabio longed to move to a small City in the North East of England.......

Who then resigned himself to sitting on the bench at Liverpool and lived happy ever after, The End.

Maybe he doesn't want to come. Seen nowt to suggest he does

Why drag it out for 4 weeks though? I think he's probably happy to join for the right price. Really wouldn't be surprised if his agent thinks he's got us and Liverpool over a barrel given their need for a striker and Borini being our top target.

The reason i know about the loyalty payment side of the problem is my mate knows somebody who works in The Liverpool Echo and as of last week thats what they were saying there was the only problem, could be shite like but i cant see why they would make it up

Not questioning your source mate, but isn't that exactly what the Northern Echo have done?

Can you point me to the quote so I can read Borini's statement or interview where he says he won't come permanently but may come on loan because I seem to have missed that.

My concern with leaving an open offer on the table is with regards to alternative targets should target A fail. Targets B C and D could move to other clubs while we are waiting for A, then what would we be left with, target E? Hopefully Poyet has an alterative 'list' with sufficient depth.

I've been reasonably confident since we put the bid in that he would come but the longer it's gone on the doubts have crept in. Like everyone else I've asked myself what the reason for the delay could be and while it would be nice to believe it's just down to sorting out a pay off from Liverpool, I can't shake the feeling that it's down to the lad himself. I still think he might come, I believe he's even prepared to come, but only once he's waited until the last minute to see if there are any better offers. If he doesn't get any he'll sign for us, if he does he won't. This explains why he hasn't out and out rejected us yet. Keep yourselves strapped in, this ride isn't likely to end until deadline day.

SSN are reporting that Rodgers has announced that Liverpool intend to buy another striker before the deadline. That will put Borini down to what sixth choice? He won't even remotely have a chance of a squad number and he'll have to to go out on loan in order to play regular football. Seems that'll be where we come in?

he is holding all the cards at the moment and we are letting him, especially if we are leaving the offer on the table till deadline day. The only we we would be dealt a better hand is if we say to him, answer today or the deal is off. If nothing comes along he runs the risk of pissing Liverpool fans and staff off, whilst rotting in the reserves. I fail to see why a player with so little recognition in the game can hold a club to ransom for over 4 weeks. We put an over the top offer in to pry off any one else, but lets be honest here, he really isn't worth risking our whole transfer strategy on.

this

the TandCs of ancillary payments would be defined... hence there'd be no wriggle room for underpayments.
if he's demanding more than the stipluated pay off then that might be the complicator... but i doubt it

i feel he's might only want a loan at most

6th choice? More like 4th and possibly 3rd on the wing

He's clearly wanting a better team to come in
