Northeast falling further behind after levelling up

That's a key point. 'Levelling up' can mean pretty much whatever the govt want it to.
A much more softer term than the 'Northern Powerhouse' which the Osbourne/Cameron lot abjectly failed to put into motion, which is convenient as levelling up can be assessed on whatever variable the gov wish to show when it comes to the next election (as you rightly say).

Everything the government can affect is clearly worse/no better than it was in 2010 mind. It's evident everywhere.

I married into a predominately Loyalist Northern Irish family but it's time to let unification begin. It's been a bottomless pit for decades. It doesn't really do much for us, the oil is the other side so it doesn't provide any lucrative Natural gases etc let the ROI and the EU prop it up.
I lived there and love the place and the people but let's get the inevitable United Ireland process started now so we're not levelling it up in 50 years time

Not sure how they measure levelling up but there's no amount of levelling up that will put us on the same trajectory as London.

The Tories levelled down the whole of the north east from 1979 to 97

it was always a complete piece of Johnson bullshit that people chose to believe and give them the vote

even now Sunak has been shown that he will ensure that the area will not see the money, that Labour put in and will return it down south . He’s on video saying that exact line .

I do hope our Tory patriots understand that very simple point but I doubt it .
