What I love about our region is how proud people are to live in certain towns and villages but how this means varying degrees of dislike towards neighbouring places.

Hebburn vs Jarra

Consett Vs Stanley

Any others that stand out?

Note towns and villages so no mention of that place opposite Gateshead...

f***ing woollybacks fighting their cousins in the next village is rife in the NE.

This is why Durham needs some sort of extra special cultural protections from UNESCO or similar. On the one hand, on a given Saturday night you have the most privileged kids in the country and the other, absolute radge packets from the surrounding pit villages who will still be fighting over an incident involving a lad from ushaw moor fingering a lass from bearpark in the 1960's.

In the fifties nearly every street in the village had a gang.
At weekends we'd all gang up and knock seven bells out of one of the neighbouring villages.
Stone fights were popular as well back then.
