Non League Football

Went down to watch my first South Shields game yesterday with the bairn and father in law, away at Marske. Shields weren't in the game from start to finish and there are a couple of lads who play for Marske who look at least NLN/NLS level and supposedly looked really good in pre-season against them as well. Marske won 3-0 in an FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round game and completely deserved it. For all the money Shields have for that level, the squad depth looks really thin and if the starting 11 aren't performing, there are very few options from the bench.

For the people who say SS have a lot of complete idiots as fans, I think they're wrong. There are always going to be a few idiots in every fanbase, but most of them just chanted all the game and tried to wind up the opposition keeper with t-rex arm chants when he came to our goal in the 2nd half, who was loving every second of it.

Good luck to Marske in the next round and would love to see them make the 1st round and play a league team.

One my mates plays for them, the lads who just taken over is backed by the players and is a good coach, but lads aren't getting paid, all playing for free

I've read he was a coach (I think) under the previous manager? Tbf, the last thing you want a couple of days after taking over and having to postpone your previous game due to player availability is an away game in Carlisle. I guess someone's had a word with the league and explained the situation and the league is usually quite understanding when it comes to giving clubs a little leeway when they're having issues.
