Non League Football

Keeper got covered in beer as Shields fans celebrated behind the goal. I was on the side so couldn’t see what went on but my lad who was right next to it reckons the keeper hit the fan 1st and the lad retaliated 🤷‍♂️

My lad was behind the goal and he said the keeper threw the 1st punch and the fan retaliated 🤷‍♂️
We were there and for what its worth, it was all Shields fans behind Shildon's goal, so I'd take what they said with a pinch of salt. I saw a lad in a black hoodie throw a punch through the net as the keeper collected the ball, a few handbags later and he was off. But from what we clearly saw, the Shields fan threw the first punch and unfortunately the keeper (who is actually from Shields) reacted. It spoiled a decent game tbh.

Was at Sunderland RCA in the FA Cup got beat 4-2 against Stockton Town.
Stockton 2-0 up after 20 odd minutes, the RCA storm back to make it 2-2 then hit the bar on the stroke of half time.
First 20 or so of the second half and it’s even stevens but then Stockton take control end the stronger side scoring twice their left winger is the difference looked a helluva player.
A great hard fought FA Cup tie though.
Great to see RCA get a decent crowd in, albeit helped by a big Stockton support - they deserve it more regularly.
RCA’s Taylor Richardson looked a player - maybe the best first five or 10 minutes from anyone I’ve seen for a long time.
Stockton winger Hayes was class, but maybe the best player on show was Portas who has a real eye for a pass and looked a complete midfielder.

Aye a huge contingent from Stockton I got there at 2pm and the bar was full, I had a pint after the game they were still in there when I left!
I believe Richardson is only 18 he looks a real prospect was a nightmare for the full back.
Hayes was probably the difference a cracking player who looked a cut above.

Well those behind the goal claim the keeper throw the 1st punch and the lad retaliated. He was wearing what looks like a black body warmer over a dark red hoodie. The guy in question reported the incident to one of the Shields media team after the game.
You missed the reply underneath from the Person in picture who is accused of assaulting the player
The Tweet was removed because that lad was not the fan involved in the incident with the keeper

Had a canny day out at Morpeth yesterday, easily beat Hyde United 6-1. Ground in the middle of nowhere, I was walking through a pine forest 30 seconds before I entered the ground. Some canny pubs in Morpeth as well, Joiners Arms, Tap & Spile, Sun Inn, and a little micropub called The Office.

He's radged that Shildon keeper like. Saw him a few times playing for Seaham Red Star, never known a player so foul mouthed, constantly swearing and having a go at the officials.

Just had this message sent to me by a Shields fan that was also there yesterday

“I was looking at the keeper throughout the whole incident, even before it started. While picking the ball out of the net the keeper reacted to something that was said to him by the fan in question. The keeper pushed at the net in the direction of the fan, but did not make any contact at all. The fan threw the first punch at the goalkeeper. I realise that I’m contradicting some statements already made, but I’m absolutely certain what I saw”

I was there but never saw the incident from the beginning

ahhh youre one of those who thinks its acceptable then. The fan in questions needs to be banned for life.
What do you think I believe is acceptable? I say again no fan was on the pitch..Whatever provoked the reaction from Shaun is unacceptable be it hoying drink or having a pop at him from behind the goal..I was pointing out you were talking shite as no fan was on the pitch..

He has played at that level for a decade, has had shedloads of abuse before from loads of fans, given it back at times, very close to the pitch, and now, aged 30 plus he chooses to lamp a fan in front of a crowd of 800 plus? Seems very odd timing like don't you think? The lad who threw the punch is never ever going to say he did it, is he. And his mates behind the goal are always going to back him.

Aye, he is his own worst enemy for that, been sent off for that before.

Plenty of eye witnesses but the crux of the matter is the disagreement on who threw the 1st punch. A guy has come forward offering to give a statement saying the fan was working the keeper. The goalkeeper then pushed his hand through the net but not making any contact with the fan. Then the lad retaliated punching the keeper.

Apparently a few more from Shields have come forward.

It’ll all come out in the wash.

Going to head down with the father in law to Marske to watch Shields play them in the 2nd qualifying round in a couple of weeks time. Be a tough game for Shields giving Marske's start to the season, even if they are a division below them.

Marske are a very good side. Best striker in the region for their level and even the next couple. Boyes is a proper player.

That said their legs are getting old in the middle of the park and Shields’ full time status and the levels of fitness that should bring will have enough.

But Boyes could be game winner.

Watched Marske beat them 3-2 a few weeks ago, was a proper game of football both teams fully at it. Shields better on the ball but Marske clinical should be a good game
