Non League Football

It looks like they’re struggling to get the building materials.
That is correct.
The stand considering it only accommodates 902 seats is enormous.
Part of the reason for this is that the skeleton for 16 executive boxes is in place. I understand these will be fitted out and in use by 2022 23 season.
However what I find unusual is that access to seats will be by external steps five or six sets which will face outwards towards the pitch.
This is why there is a eight foot drop from the bottom row of seats to pitch level. Unarguably a great view of the pitch from the seats and a stand that will internally gave great facilities but I just wonder if the design us all wrong.
Should seats not come nearer to pitch level and should access to seats not be from inside the stand as opposed to via external walkways.
Surely the extra cost of internal access would not be a significant increase on what Shields are already spending.
Despite their huge capital investment Shields may have something that does not look quite right.

Its unusual and I don't know any of the detail (being an exile) but I would guess it's about maximising the useable area inside for the official suites, hospitality, gigantic bar, club shop and loos, in a relatively narrow con figuration. They ve taken in much of the grass verge on Shaftesubry Ave (Which was club land) but the road prevents a wider footprint alloweing seats to the ground level. my guess only.

Bar etc underneath the stand and space for standing along touchline. Plus I was told by a member off staff that they put the framework up forgetting to do the groundworks for electrical and drainage?

I was led to believe that there would be no standing area below the seats.
It certainly looks an impressive structure and way beyond what I expected when the initial plans were submitted back in pre covid 2019.

Fc Deportivo Galicia 3-0 British airways

Fantastic night out seeing us beat our neighbours and rivals 3-0. Two goals from full backs, and whilst they looked better than they have in the past it ended up comfortable.

too many pints for a school night

Joe Howey, son of Lee, who was in attendance, made a very steady debut for CLS v Boldon CA last night on the left of a back 3. Another good game, 1-1 draw though I heard Boldon may have been missing a couple as they'd been flying to date

what’s the setup like at CLS? I’ve moved to South Pelaw from Consett and either going to look at watching CLS or Birtley for my northern league fix

they're both good tbh, Chester has the brand new clubhouse Birtley seem to have the better team

Chester's top man is red and white Birtley is 100% skunk

Seaham Red Star put on a cracking performance last night to edge a 1-0 win over high-flying Newton Aycliffe. The winner was a penalty that shouldn’t have been given, but entertaining game from start to finish.

Great to see Horden are going well in the second division of the Northern League.
Topping the league undefeated.
This was a club that went out of existence, well done to all the people responsible for bringing football back to a village with a proud tradition in sport.
