Non League Football

Maybe...but it's about the enjoyment of the game, the support for the local team, the ale, the friendship, and just paying on the gate when Sunderland are not playing at home is a no brainer. We should all support our nearest local team when we can and in the process enoy a good afternoon. For older people, away travel is just too much and this where our local sides give us so much.
For us exiles too, local teams give a good outlet at a fraction of the cost.

Speaking of, despite an excellent pre-season, FC Deportivo Galicia fell 3-1 to London Lions to start the season. Getting the keeper sent of on 30 mins didn't help.

Still, top 4 is achievable, and I'm praying for a good vase run and a big Northern League team at home along the way.

2 teams I've never heard of. I wonder if FC Deportivo Galicia serve pimientos de Padron followed by pulpo de Melide as a half time refreshment ;). But yes, local football is actually amazing (and a lot cheaper) when we can't travel (through age (in my case) or whatever). Buen Camino!

I can confirm that regrettably, they do not.

I can confirm however, that many of our supporters have an unhealthy obsession with Estrella Galicia, and finding somewhere that serves it on our travels brings genuine excitement!

A terrible beer, though for some reason with a good reputation. It's just like all the other macro Spanish beers. But locals still prefer it to craft nanos despite the excellent Jakobsland. Madness.

100% - was talking to the secretary from Esh the other day and he still has hope !

I will stress Estrella Galicia, not the Dramm from Barcelona!

Sandhurst town 3-3 fc Deportivo Galicia

not a bad result given we had a weakened squad and our manager in goal, but we didn’t play as well as we can play. Stole the draw with a beautiful free kick at the death, and nearly snatched a winner just after.

was a bad tempered game with players taking digs at each other and a massive handbag pushing and shoving before half time. All in all a MM archetypical non-league day out.

Very poor performance by Esh Winning yesterday at home against Blyth Town in a 4 nil defeat. Second half especially was bad and there seemed to be a lack of togetherness and spirit in the team which I think is hugely important at this level

Horden CW 1-0 Bedlington

A pretty even game which could and should have probably ended 3-3. Horden hit the woodwork twice in the first half ane Bedlington missed a couple of sitters. Good start to the season for Horden after promotion; played 4, won 3 and 1 draw.

Chester 1-1 Washington. 2 teams who will probably be around the bottom 6 most of the season in a game with few real chances a penalty miss from CLS apart. Not the best game but a few decent looking youngsters on view.

Rumoured that Joseph Howey on the CLS bench is the son of Lee but he didn't get on so Joe Howey, Joe Howey, Joe Howey, your Uncle is a **** will have to wait

I was at that game too marra, supporting Bedlington. I agree that the score should have been something like 3-3!
Smashing little set up at Horden though, enjoyed the visit.

Nice one mate...I enjoyed it, quite an entertaining game. Some size the lad who came on towards the end for you

Ha, yeah. Not the quietest on the pitch either.
Good luck for the season, really enjoyed my first visit.

Was at the RCA v Northallerton game 3-2 to the away side which was the score at half time.
Northallerton were always edging it until the RCA captain Greg Swansbury was harshly sent off with about half an hour to go for an alleged elbow.
Funnily enough with 10 men it was all the RCA after that and they had Northallerton hanging on.
They missed a couple of great chances, but it wasn’t to be.
