Non League Football

Northern league season starts today. Anyone off to a game? I’m going to billingham town to watch aycliffe

I didn't go, but my dad took my lad to Consett vs Seaham Red Star. (Consett won 3-1)
They said Consett were by far the better side, but my dad said he said he's seen a lot better games there.

I love the NL, always a highlight of a trip home.

was at a do at Morpeth Town yesterday , can see why not playing home until last week in august, pitch long way from being finished. was like the Himalayas.
on another note Morpeth won 3-1 at Newcastle Blue Star yesterday in a friendly.

No game for me today, but going to watch Whickham v Billingham on Tuesday. Get yourself back on here after the game to provide me a full scouting report on Billingham

they have a few young lads and look to play out from the back. They put aycliffe under some pressure at the start of the second half but didn’t really create anything and aycliffe were missing three of their back four.

was an eventful game, which aycliffe won 5-2. Aycliffe went down to 10 men for a period in the first half after their striker received a sin bin following a shocking decision by the ref to award billingham a free kick, which led to them making it 1-1. They then went down to 10 men with 20 mins to go after another forward was sent off after reacting to a poor challenge from one of billingham’s centre mids and a scrap between the sides broke out.

It does look like there are a fair few teams around the bottom zone. Durham City look rubbish. Brandon are again at the bottom. Esh have a decent chance of geting points from the other bottom teams so hopefully it will be a case of safety again. By the by, does any other Esh fan remember when we played Morecambe, now of the same league as Safc, in the 80's at their place in the FA cup? We lost (comprehensively) as we had to play our driver, but at that time we were on level terms as them.

Durham / Brandon / Esh / Chester Le Street already look like having long winters

Maybe...but it's about the enjoyment of the game, the support for the local team, the ale, the friendship, and just paying on the gate when Sunderland are not playing at home is a no brainer. We should all support our nearest local team when we can and in the process enoy a good afternoon. For older people, away travel is just too much and this where our local sides give us so much.
