Both our Sky digiboxes are telling us we have no satellite signal. All connections are fine, all the on-screen checks that Sky tell you to do have been done. Sky are going to send an engineer on Wednesday , but we know that the SMB can do better and tell us how to fix this so we can have telly this long weekend. The fact that both boxes are on the blink indicates it's a dish problem. The dish looks fine: it's still there, it's still pointing the same way as the neighbours', and there's nothing untoward like a loose cable or a bloody big bird sitting on it.

So oh wise SMB, what is our problem and how do we fix it?

Have you tried switching the boxes off at the wall for 5 minutes?

Thanks for the tip, but yes we have and no joy.

Looks like we'll be having a weekend of The Wire. Still, no Match of the Day: what a blessing.

I reckon its the end bit of the sky dish, mine went a few year back, no telly for 3 days, ended in divorce with me and my ninth wife

Ive got a pair of collared doves nesting with 2 chicks in sitting on the bracket of my dish and it still works. Sorry no help to you though

Excellent, thank you :).

So, that's a job for an engineer right? i.e. don't bash it with a broomstick and hope for the best?

Nice one. Used to have seagulls all the time on mine at the old place.

Cant do any harm, its bust anyway.

You could fit a new one like if you could get hold of one local.
