Probably not but if they did they would all be filled up in 5 minutes.
So it's not a scenario that would ever happen, and therefore not a problem.
One EV said that they're not for everyone & that 25% would have problems. I'd agree with that

Another friend of owner has said they had charging problems
What problems?

where was he?

Read the thread, it was nowt to do with me, I was referring to other posters.

Even one of EV's biggest supporters on here, believes the charging infrastructure is poor & is sceptical to whether what's needed will be ready in 9 years time.

Get yourself the experience of owning a nice big petrol engined car whilst you can. Everyone should experience owing a nice V8 or similar before we make the inevitable switch.
The best post of this thread.

Totally agree. I love the way a v8 gently rocks once on start up and then the burble .

Backward thinking from a supposed forward-thinking company.

Depends how you see it I guess. In terms of their own viability it makes perfect sense.

I do hope a more affordable solution comes for non-Tesla drivers. My next car will be an EV. Hopefully a Tesla but I suspect the current tax breaks won’t continue which will squeeze me out of the premium EV market.

How much does it cost the people with an EV on average per mile if you just charge at home or at the charging points at supermarkets and service stations?

Not including work as I guess most places would stop giving it away for free if all staff were using it.

Just trying to work out how long it would take the average person to be in net profit.

Not exactly the 'saving the world' image they like to project though. They could let other EV users use their chargers at reduced power, increased cost and lower priority than their Tesla customers. Then at least they could claim to be promoting the future viability of EVs. As it stands though they just look like an automobile version of Apple.

Solutions will be found.

Can nobody see past a problem?
40 million cars on uk roads , 9 years to go until petrol ban, national grid has been known to struggle at peak times, and it takes on average 7-8 years to build and commission a new power station. You might have confidence in solutions being found, but I will be investing in a new bike.

What i said is that yes maybe for people who drive cross country every day like reps etc it may not be ideal yet, I plucked 75% but in reality evs might even be totally fine for 90% as we stand now.
But I've also said that ranges are improving constantly and the more people buy in then the infrastructure will grow with it. As I said the average UK commute is 23 mile round trip I think.
I'm not anti petrol as I love cars but I think some people look for hypothetical problems with evs that aren't there or will never affect them.

You have to include work as that actually happens, if I was back in office I'd be paying zero for fuel whereas I'd be paying nearky 200 a month on diesel.
At home it costs me about 12 quid for 260 miles at the min but that's just normal tariff there are other options now.

Few reasons I said take away work as I wanted to know the full cost without free from work as Im self employed so wouldnt get that and Im guessing most work places would start charging if 200 people had cars parked getting charged up each day, unless they are work cars and the likes.

So the cost is around 25% of what most pay per mile im guessing, once the prices come down to similar to ICE cars then no reason not to switch for most, I'm one of the unlucky ones as I need a big range or fast charging in a van, hope they come soon.
