I'm having a lot of fun reading threads about our next manager. It seems no-one being suggested is good enough to manage the mighty Sunderland. I reckon some think we're getting Conte...

Whaaaat? I was horrified from the start!

History gets re-written all the time on here, but there were plenty totally unimpressed at Moyes appointment.

Personally, I thought that was the appointment we'd been looking for, for the best part of 20 years. I was wrong, but there were definitely people who thought he was the wrong person for the job and I scoffed at them thinking that they were utterly f***ing mental. How right they were, eh?

It wouldnt be a great appontment but i suspect one of the previous posters who said this was a surprise to bain and short will be right. Expect the usual clueless blundering after managers from the chuckle brothers, then eventually land on an uninspiring option.

His teams cannot defend, we'd be slaughtered if we did get back in the Premier.

I disagree with this completely. I watched Burton nearly all season. Trust me he set them up well, created an incredible team spirit and work ethic and they ran through brick walls for him. He didn't always get it right tactically but at times he out thought managers with bigger and better reputations than him. What he achieved this season with tiny crowds and minimal cash is manager of the year stuff.

Don't misunderstand me, imo he is not the man for us but he is perfect for Burton where funds are short and there is no room to carry disinterested players...oh, hang on!

Actually, we could learn more from the Chairman, Ben Robinson. Can't stand the bloke but he runs that club brilliantly.

That's pretty much my take too, I watched quite a few Burton games this season. Although I've always found Ben Robinson to be an absolute gent (and yes, we could learn a lot from him on how to run a football club).

If we wanted a manager to oversee a long term rebuild from bottom to top on limited funds, we could do a lot worse than Nigel Clough (I'm sure he'd have more sense than to take us on at the moment)

Why be so rude because other people have the Gaul to have a different opinion than you?

If it wasn't for his dad, you likely wouldn't have a clue who he was. Possibly unfairly to say but he will have been given opportunities because of his father's managerial ability and everyone who has offered him a chance will have been hoping he'd replicate what his dad did. He's not a bad manager but he's a lower league manager. He has done nothing to earn the right to manage a club the size we are.

Have some pride mate. We're far bigger than Nigel Clough.

The crazy thing is you're right but also no one knows how it will turn out. We were all happy with Moyrs, I dont think anyone predicted just how shit he'd be.
Probably end up with a little known name and go on to win the league !

I wasn't... never wanted Moyes.. check back.. he was never the right person.
