NHS Dentists

Breeze in ryhope just decided to close up and abandoned all the patients.

:( gonna be a nightmare trying to find somwhere to take my elderly mother on.

Press release from the government reckons they have sorted this.

Just been informed no more NHS treatment at my local dentist, we have to pay £15 per month...are there any NHS dentists left to join? Last thing I need is another 15 x3 pm outgoing.

That sounds quite cheap. My dentist is asking £22/month which doesn’t include treatment, just 2 checkups per year. If I want to upgrade to a plan that gives a discount off treatment I have to pay them £220 for an initial checkup first before they can give me a price. That is despite them doing a full checkup within the last year (when they did NHS)

Interesting reading this. In Oz dental care is generally bundled up with your overall health insurance, there’s no state provided dental care. As far as costs go it seems to be cheaper in the UK. My two girls have orthodontic braces at the moment and that’s costing over $10k each.
What I can say is that I’m in the UK right now and dental care/hygiene is definitely an issue. People definitely seem to either can’t access or afford treatment which is shameful.
