it's only worth hooking him if the options off the bench are likely to be better. Not sure that would be the case.

Icardi could have done something, I think. I personally would have dropped Draxler in there as a false nine and told Di Maria and Mpabbe to run inside of the flank. Play more like Liverpool front three, with the central striker pulling the centre backs in. They had prepared for PSG using the width of the pitch.

Why was he sold then

I thought it was well-known at the time he was a bit of a sulky twat and wasn't getting as much adulation as he thought he deserved from fans and critics alike. The summer he moved there was a lot of speculation around his future and I guess when his release clause was met Barca obviously thought it was worth losing him for the €200M PSG splashed out.

Eh? Look at the stats and form of both players, Icardi is significantly more likely to score a goal when you are desperately in need of one.

I agree, i was just saying that maybe two years ago there's no way anybody would've thought Gnabry or Choupa Moting would be starting a CL final ahead of players like Icardi and Coutinho
Just like Suarez was when Arsenal bid 50 million and one pound

That situation was different.
Suarez contract stipulated the player had to be informed by the club if anybody bid over £40m for him. It was an attempt for arsenal to unsettle him and turn his head..it wasn't a release clause.
Right. So suarez turned arsenal down. Neymar didnt turn psg down

How were barca supposed to stop that? Are you being serious here or what 🤣

Liverpool turned arsenal down. Wasn't a release clause

Suarez didn't turn Arsenal down, the Liverpool owner turned them down.

Unlike Neymar's.
So this is where we are...
Barcelona didn't want to sell one of their best players, but you think he wasn't good enough for them because he was sold.

Nope

I accept your apology

That's John Henry speaking at the time, doing a bit spin.

Here's arsenal transfer negotiator Dick Law speaking in 2019

"That spring, news got round to us that Suarez wanted out of Liverpool,” he told Goal.

“We got information that showed us what was negotiated between Liverpool and the player, and in our internal conversations decided that the clause was meaningless, that it was not a buy-out and it didn’t obligate Liverpool to do anything apart from have a conversation.

“So, whoever agreed to that clause in the Suarez camp was being less than clever because it was never a buy-out. What there was, was an obligation to discuss a transfer if a threshold was met and that threshold was £40m.”
