It was one v one and he failed, that was the situation, why is he exempt from criticism when he constantly lets us down?
I didn't say he was exempt from criticism, but the fact that he had a standing jump against an attacker with a run on him isn't a failure on his part, it's a scientific fact that the runner is always going to leap higher. Jones should have cut the cross out, something he failed to do all day. O'Shea is far from the biggest issue in this team right now

Mario Zagallo just seen checking into the city centre travel lodge.
That's him and Helmut Schoen in the same building, hope they meet up at the bar, Rinus Michels in the Seaburn, bit of class you see.

Yes I thought about Rinus Michels because Total football is a natural progression on the foundation that Simon has built. Sadly, he's dead.

I'll stick my neck on the line and say we should go for Pearson. I know he's with a Belgian club but would cost buttons in compensation, he hasn't got a rep to lose as his rep is in tatters anyway, I think he would jump at the chan e and more importantly he is the sort of fighter we need right now.
Yes indeed go for Big Nige, shake it all up.

He could be brought back though with Johan as his number two, they'd fit right in here, they were frozen in cryo to be awaken for this exact opportunity.

Why did he let him get a run on him? An experienced defender should know how to position himself and be aware of whatever threat is around, like in 90,% of his games for us he is fine for 90% of the time, which tbf is a much better ratio than Jones and Kone but it is what it is, failure.

He has to defend his line man, as well as his area. If he'd left a big space behind (i.e. by pushing out to the Bristol player and running with him) there would have been a massive gap in the 6 yard box for them to exploit.

The sad thing is that a lot of the names mentioned in this thread probably wouldn't touch us with a bargepole. The Aberdeen manager turned us down remember. Reid is basically retired from management, doubt he could be arsed to come back. Young managers/coaches like Phillips would think twice, take us down to League One and their reputation is ruined immediately. We'd end up with someone out of work and desperate.

Just seen Simple Simon there on Channel 5 blaming the players. While he's partly right, all he will have achieved is to lose the dressing room completely now

For who to exploit? There's one man in there and it was his, watch it again and stop making excuses for him ffs. I was a defender in a previous life and if you knew you couldn't beat your man you made it as difficult as possible for them, he could have blocked his run, stuck an arm out or jump early to put him off, he did none of these things and this is someone with shit loads of experience, piss poor and if you can't see it I'm wasting my time, goodnight.

Keane with JOS as Ass Man

Three times today he did his usual trick.

Passes the ball short to the closest player then gestures frantically for them to play it long / wide. Then when they don’t (or their pass is intercepted) he flaps his arms in disgust.

That’s bound to piss his team mates off. If you want it playing forward John, do it yourself

Knowing Martin Bain he'd probably bring in John f***ing Carver.

"We want someone who knows the area who can connect with the fans, och, aye..."

The biggest issue to look at, is the negativity and miserable feelings that are riddled throughout the club. It like a disease and is crippling us at the very core of the club. Someone like Lambert isn't going to do anything about that. The club needs an almighty kick up the arse and shot in the arm. It cant keep going like this, or there'll be not much of a club to support soon. A Keane type of appointment is what we need, but he'll not work under Short, not many will tbh.

Agree with this.

Grayson needs to go but cannot see us making a decent appointment whilst Short is still here.
