We will never be as big as Newcastle in the eyes of the media, but the relegation Sword of Damocles had been hanging over us for too many years. I can't disagree with you that we may have suitors, but ' A Sleeping Giant', we are not. Over 50 years of expectation, hope and desperation have turned me into a cynical old man.

And it's probably the club that has made me feel old and cynical.
I specified in the championship - im not saying you should be smashing the champions league im not off my tits.

An intelligent coach (not manager) who’ll play 4-3-3 every week. Let’s go get a German.

Sunderland the embodiment of anti European small nation Xenophobia craves a continental German coach. There is a certain irony.

It's gonna take one dumb bastard to take this god-awful job...

1) There's no money to spend
2) The current players are poor quality
3) Short backs the players, not the manager
4) Short has a track record of lying to the manager about how much is in the transfer kitty. For the truth, see (1) above.
5) Short's lack of football judgment and experience results in him panicking and sacking managers prematurely
6) A lack of confidence means the fans are impatient, the current scapegoat's head already on the block
7) It's a cold, impoverished and unfashionable part of the world.
This.... Let's face it.

Haha I remember getting ridiculed for suggesting lambert in the summer, gotta love the smb!
Lambert = Moyes no difference.

I'll stick my neck on the line and say we should go for Pearson. I know he's with a Belgian club but would cost buttons in compensation, he hasn't got a rep to lose as his rep is in tatters anyway, I think he would jump at the chan e and more importantly he is the sort of fighter we need right now.

Mario Zagallo just seen checking into the city centre travel lodge.

The state we're in, Jimmy Savile would knock us back.

How about Doris Stokes? I heard she's got good contacts? She might even bring Rodwell back fom the dead.

Jones disappearing act at RB caused the goal. Very hard to defend that as a CB when the striker is running on to you and you have a standing start. Some sort of attempt to cut out the cross might have helped.
You deal with whatever situation arises, he didn't.

This could be an amazing gig for an aspiring up and coming young manager somewhere down the league, just like when Sheffield United took a gamble on Chris Wilder

This needs saying again and again. Idea we can't get better than Grayson is absolute f***ing bullshit. We're an easier sell than in the summer in one way now: expectations are way more realistic. You could barely do worse - get us to fourth off bottom and you'd be a hero ffs!

Bit of a subjective statement that - "whatever situation arises"? Really? So if it's 5 Bristol attackers v 1 Sunderland defender, you expect him to deal with the situation?
Ok then
It was one v one and he failed, that was the situation, why is he exempt from criticism when he constantly lets us down?

We have VERY few options as manager after Grayson and equally no money, which makes me think that, like last season, Bain won't act until it's far too late.

Personally, I do believe Grayson has to go and realistically, I'd go for Kevin Phillips as manager and bring Peter Reid in an advisory capacity and as a link to the Board. It would do no harm having someone who knows a bit about football connected with the Board, though I admit that for Sunderland it would be something of a novelty.
