Why are Bielsa and Farke unrealistic? They both managed in this league

Because one will want mega money and the other is currently flying in the Bundesliga.
Bringing in Mowbray along with a bright young coach would make a great deal of sense but only if that appealed to Mowbray. We need to treat him with respect.

I’m sure I read somewhere that he left Blackburn because he wanted a better work/life balance, so that could make sense.

You didn't see them last year then? It was really fast, counter attacking football with a high press. They took us apart and look really good to watch. I think we'd love his style.
Watched both games against us and when they played us up here we were a mess, was just one ball over the top that did us every time. But at theirs it was a lot of pissing about the back. Just don’t think we’re suited to it with the players and crowd.
I thought Mowbray might be lined up for an academy job.
Which would be fine, but I don’t think the club think like that. Doubt the owners want to pay 2 wages

I think you are correct. Manning sounds a more focussed type of individual. He has quite a bit of experience such as WHU U23 coach, the New York FC, the a team in Belguim as Head Coach, then MK Dons. Admittedly he has only been head coach for two seasons but he performed well in both of those jobs. Of course, he's a risk but it just seems to fit our whole club ethos more than Mowbray. If Mowbray has attended all the games this season it makes me wonder whether he is being lined up for a different role.

I full agree however that the next manager needs to be an unknown to our club and he's got to bring us the potential of a rollercoaster. I don't want a stagnating comfy pair of slippers in the job and the fuck it that will do attitude, this is our time as fans, we need the dream of the promised land otherwise we might as well all knock it on the head. The ethos from the top is young and progression, the manager's got to be of the same ilk surely.

Fair enough mate, I saw it totally the opposite up here. I thought they were the best team I'd seen and it was like taking candy from a baby the way they took us apart. They could/should have had a boat load of goals. Wickham missed some absolute sitters. I am not just saying that because he's linked but because I genuinely thought they were the best team we played and didn't want them in the play offs.

Has to be a good motivator, able to work with younger players, willing to work under a DOF and understand he’ll be out of a job in under a year.

Can't say I know much about Manning tbh, other than his side play quite attractive football. I know even less about Barry and hadn't even heard of him until yesterday. Big thing with both of them, it's a huge step up for both of them. Manning going for MK Don's to Sunderland is chalk and cheese with regards to pressure and scrutiny. Barry, obviously at a massive club, but being a coach to head coach is a big step. Not saying either won't work, but it's a pretty big risk. I'd say Manning less so though.

Biesla had a massive fall out with KLD's family whilst in charge of Marseille. Not a cat in hells chance of KLD appointing him.

Everyone is obviously entitled to their own opinion and that but in my mind it's bat shit crazy going for the likes of Manning, Barry or similar. Absolutely zero of experience of managing a big club and also zero experience of this league. It would seem that some people are hoping that we're going to unearth the next Mourinho or similar. That's a massive massive gamble that in our first season back we shouldn't be taking.

Dyche apparently was on more money than the players at Burnley, so can not see this happening, although he strikes me as a bloke who would take a pay cut for a challenge.

I emailed Sky asking for the list of odds, and they gave an automated email saying to expect a response within 72 hours.

We’d likely be appointing a manager close to that time frame anyway.
Odds now posted and an apology for the delay.

Mowbray fave unsurprisingly.

I'd love Farke. I know it's very, very unlikely but he'd absolutely fit the criteria perfectly. It's really frustrating because he took a job in Russia a week or two before we sacked Johnson and then left that job a few days after Neil was appointed.

It doesn't seem to matter how many times Leeds, Derby, Bolton, Sunderland, Portsmouth etc... get i to serious trpuble spending putside their means, "spend mpre money" is always the cry.

Very good manager, but no chance imo.

There is a risk but I’d be tempted to go for Kieron McKenna. Very highly rated as a coach at Man Utd, particularly by Mourinho and has started his managerial career well at Ipswich. Much more potential for him with Sunderland than Ipswich.

Don’t know enough about the workings at SAFC but from what I’ve read a ‘coaching’ manager would probably fit the bill over a ‘buying’ manager.

Personally I think he would be a good shout for you but I get that a lot of you will want more experience.
