Interesting reaction on this thread already. Roy Keane seemed like a good appointment for us yet Patrick Vieira is a crazy appointment...
I think it's more an appointment that a championship club would make. Like people who want Keane back now, I definitely wouldn't. Asking for trouble.

Keane was a good appointment in the championship. Big ask for someone with very little experience to start up there imo

Hmm. I'm not sure. It's been suggested that Vieira is going to be a future City manager. I was hoping Ashley would go and fuck things up again but for me Vieira seems an interesting choice considering his previous appointments have been Kinnear, Shearer, Keegan, Pardew and Carver.

Keane was appointed as a manager of a club who looked set to possibly get back to back relegations to league 1 and needed a kick up the arse

Newcastle are a Premiership club

That's why it seems a bizarre appointment; Vieira & Carver double team, quality

Vieira is a future city manager based on nowt though. He's managed the youths in an academy with untold riches ploughed into it. While he is a big name, it's undoubtedly a massive punt. I wouldn't want us to take the same approach.

I'd be pleased with that, I already disliked him so it would be a good appointment imo.

with Charver in charge, obviously.

When we appointed Keane, he was exactly what we needed for many reasons.
Vieira seems to be a wild, hopeful punt

a wild, hopeful punt could also describe Roy Keane.

Patrick Vieira has been in charge of City's EDS squad for the last 2 (?) years. Certainly seems a more thoughtful appointment than Ashley's previous appointments.
