Newcastle players go on media strike

Things have been far too settled at our black and white friends up the road. They're due a boycoutt, on pitch fight, managerial resignation, dip in form, mock funeral in the next few months.

They're addicted to it.

It's class laughing at the state of the Mags, however tbf to the players if I was owed money from a billionaire and he refused to pay it, I'd go on strike too.

And anyone who says they wouldn't is either a liar or a doormat

I might be stupid but I thought their dispute was because of the bonuses being offered for this season being piss poor compared to last season, not that he hadn't paid up...

Yous always seem to pull 1 result out of the bag against the big boys. Lucky kernts.

Opening games are hard to tell, even in the top league. Spurs will have a few rested or benched as a lot of them were into the really late stages of the world cup so it's easy to see them dropping points.

And Kane never scores in August!

Frustrated Newcastle players go on media strike over bonuses

Keith Downie‏ @SkySports_Keith
Newcastle United’s players have withdrawn cooperation with the media as part of a dispute with the club over bonuses for the upcoming season. The players refused to give their time for “walk up” shots for TV companies at the training ground today.
:lol::lol:
Poor little millionaires, being asked to promote the club as part of their 7 figure salaries instead of squeezing more money out of the club!

Typical jealous viewpoint. Not squeezing money out the club are they? They want what they are owed that was agreed last season, and want parity with other clubs. Every football club has a bonus scheme. Don't be so bitter because they earn a good wage.

Spurs is a nice start. How many of the World Cup players are expected to play? I actually think the mags will win.

I'm not bitter mate. I just don't have any sympathy for their "plight."

People don't go to watch football games to watch money get pumped back into the grass roots, to watch the chairman make a killing or to watch the club's bank balance stay in the black, they go to watch good players play a game that they love and so the players should be rewarded well. Today's pampered little princesses and their glorified recruitment consultants that misrepresent themselves as agents are a parasite on the game though and it wouldn't hurt to see a few of them removed.

i have given up wondering what cashley is doing to that club...he wants to sell (at a high price imho) yet does nothing to improve the team, appease the fans or help the manager and players, instead he prefers to create turmoil every season.

at least mr short tried to do best for the club but took advice from idiots, then basically gave the club away to leave it in a decent state.

Morale at the club already at rock bottom before the season even starts.

Fans hate the owner
Manager hates the owner
Players hate the owner

Definitely a relegation fight on the cards.
To be fair Benitez is at fault. He’s rebelling against the owner now the players think they can. They long the stand off goes on the better. See you next season for our usual 6 points

After opening that post with saying you're not bitter you went on to sound very bitter.
If I was a footballer I'd want the best wage possible and to play for the best club possible and a good agent can make that happen for the player. Footballers are human, and they accept a wage somebody else is willing to pay them.
But in the case of the Newcastle players, they're all due a share of £11m. Might not make much difference to the higher earners in the team but the lads on the fringes who may be on 10k a week then it's a big deal. Especially as the employer (NUFC) has reneged on an agreement regarding performance related bonuses. They've met their target of avoiding relegation (£4m bonus) and then they finished 10th (£1m per place above 17th)
