If they werent very good then why brag about it?

Not as hurt as i would love to make you feel

Because victory against Barcelona in the Champions league is quite a scalp under any circumstances. Rather than chewing on the negative comments from rival supporters with an axe to grind, let's see what the less biased Brian Moore said at the full-time whistle...

"One of the great nights of European football: one of the greatest nights in Newcastle’s history."

Ah yes. I'm glad we're having this discussion - it was nice watching Tino's hat-trick again while I researched that quote. Man that was some leap

You'll have to wait for a reply after this - I have a long drive ahead of me and I'll not be back till Sunday. Don't miss me too much

IIRC barcelona didnt win any of the CL games that year. They were far from the team of today, no matter how much you wish

I think they beat the Mags at the Nou Camp in front of about 10,000 fans. It was their only win and they finished bottom of the group.

I remember Dynamo Kiev won the group and they were mint that year.

I despise newcastle but that comment belittles you. One of the greatest nights in your history is beating a team that didnt win any CL games that year? Better than the times you have actually won trophies and titles? I know none of you can remember doing that but its still part of your history

Not as much as you'll miss us since you're never off here you sad fuck. I've seen posts by you at 2 in the morning, 6 in the morning, 8 o'clock at night.......

This could go some way to explaining why the human race is in such a mess.

dinit lie mann

You'll be checkin in every hour, you are never away from this place

2,844 posts on a Sunderland message board.... pathetic mag

I think people forget that in the mid to late 90's they were seen as one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League. Only Man Utd and Liverpool had more fans.

John Hall did such a great job at pushing the Geordie Nation shite and you saw Mag tops all over the UK at the time. I daresay that they would have picked up a lot of foreign support during that time too.

Since their fall from the top they have undoubtedly lost a lot of their glory support but there's no doubt there remains a fair few (million) who have stuck with them, both here and abroad.

Not to mention that they do have a large local support like us anyway.

Mention this on the new Fifa and as a Geordie it gets right on me tits!

And sadly for the record, the mags are way more supported than us. All these sweaty jocks wank over them for a start... slightly changed recently cos of Gordon and Bardsley (Which wont last for long!)

Was 20,000 (of which about 7,000 were Newcastle)

Was a major letdown as everyone booked flights up after the 3-2 night. Turned out it was a dead rubber, was pissing down and the stadium was 4/5 empty. Newcastle section (in the gods) was packed - rest of the stadium was empty. Bought my ticket (in Bara end) from a tout and match was that shite I did a tour of the ground in the 2nd half....

That shite Barca side won La Liga by 9 points that year. When you consider their starting 11 against us I'm not surprised we beat them and am amazed they avoided relegation.

and La Liga was that shite that I've no idea how Real Madrid managed to win the Champion League. Someone mentions that Kiev were mint but we took 4 points off them.

In hindsight we should have the bloody thing.

Do you things just sit on here all f***ing day?

When I was working oversea's in the 90's & early 00's I can't remember meeting a Newcastle supporter. Quite a few Spurs, Leeds, Man United, Chelsea, Liverpool & Sunderland in Germany and I was in France when football was invented but the French ignored the PL until Eric played for Man United and the French influx into the Arse.

Can i just ask if anybody knows, out of curiosity when Sunderland last averaged higher than Newcastle for a) a league season, and b) a european campaign?
