Newcastle have 6 million fans

The article doesn't list the top 10 in the Prem.

Its just lists the best supported clubs in the world, of which the Mags happened to be on the list.

Tottenham have 11 million according to the survey, making them better supported than Villa and Everton who were unlisted.

So let me get this straight, some knackers do a survey where some forieign fuck ticks a box of his preference. What a load of shite, that goes for all surveys by the way, utter shite.

Making them the 7th best supported team in the Premier League, according to a survey published in today's Times (page 91).

Yet people on here whinge on when we get lower attendances than them.

how on this fckin earth would they know ? do they actually go round the whole world asking every body who they support ? survey's my arse.

worraloadoffuckinshit.

Wtf do people count as fans these days

Who were actually quite poor at the time but lets just ignore that

I just love the bitterness in here when our CL adventures are brought up (nothing has changed like, Villa were shit when we put six past them as well) It's like Duncan Goodhew mocking Noel Gallagher's haircut. And for the record, here's how 'quite poor' Barca were that night...

Barcelona (1-3-4-2): Hesp; Celades; Reiziger, Nadal, Sergi; Figo, De la Pena, Amunike (Ciric, h-t), Rivaldo; Enrique, Anderson (Dugarry, 55). Substitutes not used: Abelardo, Amor, Pizzi, R Garcia, Busquets (gk).

It's hard to argue with any of that and any reasoned Sunderland supporter wouldn't. I'd stick me knackers in a vice to see us play at the Nou Camp in the Champions League and get soundly beaten 3-0 and settle for a brave 0-1 home defeat just to see them play on our soil.

My gripe with Newcastle is that it seems they seem to get more joy from rubbing it in our faces than celebrating the achievements i.e. Mackem in Milan etc etc . This is why I dont like your lot in general, though obviously there are some decent among you

This. They're constantly calling us a small club, yet they compare everything they do/ever done, with us.
I mean even one of their first questions to Santon, was about Sunderland...
Strange bunch!

Yes

It's an uncomfortable truth that many Sunderland fans don't like to admit, but they do have many more fans than us. On a world wide basis it appears they may have millions more.......

I think people forget that in the mid to late 90's they were seen as one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League. Only Man Utd and Liverpool had more fans.

John Hall did such a great job at pushing the Geordie Nation shite and you saw Mag tops all over the UK at the time. I daresay that they would have picked up a lot of foreign support during that time too.

Since their fall from the top they have undoubtedly lost a lot of their glory support but there's no doubt there remains a fair few (million) who have stuck with them, both here and abroad.

Not to mention that they do have a large local support like us anyway.

I dont, it shows how shit we have been and how lucky they were to be on the sky gravy train from the off. We do well to get the gates we get and have the fans we have given the shite we have had druing that period.

Facebook likes/internet survey FFS means nowt:lol: I appreaciate they do have more fans than us though.

Most people haven't read the Times and the OP hasn't even been arsed to type out the article so why are people taking it seriously.
Put up or shut up.

taking it all with a pinch of salt....

Exactly - i'll bet six months ago we would have had a couple of million more 'fans' because of the Ghana connection, foreign'fans' follow players rather than clubs so what criteria was set out in this survey god only knows. I will concede that them up the road are more high profile and are followed by more people globally but it's impossible to measure, and thats a fact folks.
