The key to the mags staying up will be team spirit.

If they or any of their fellow strugglers lose it they're doomed.

Look at the new manager bounce for ourselves in the seasons where we dug ourselves out.

Look at Huddersfield this season - if they don't change their coach they're down.

Benitez has thus far managed to maintain team spirit but it doesn't take much for it to start to ebb away.

That said, a couple of shrewd window signings should see them safe (sniggers!)
Chelsea (A)
Cardiff (H)
Man City (H)
Spurs (A)
Wolves (A)

Next five fixtures, fail to win against Cardiff and team spirit will be blown to bits by the rest of the games

Its meant to be done by today according to his FA source:lol:

Is it happenin? and 200 mil plus to spend in Jan:lol:

Wonder if the Howey appears on Totalshit radio tonight?

Sooner everyone realises there is and never will be a takeover the better. @Reiver got it horribly wrong an all.

Altough I can forgive him as sitting in the black bull on Derby day in a Sunderland top, maximum respect

Norwich dropped the season we stayed up when we beat Chelsea etc and they were looking out of it for a time. Watford almost went down with us 2 year ago after losing their last 7 or 8 games and had been flying first half of the season. Hull stands out the season Bullard did that celebration taking piss out of manager when they had a strong start to the season and it dropped off. Off the top of my head. The mags were 8 points clear only a week ago.

Not being argumentive but there’s no such thing as supposed safety. You are either safe are you aren’t.

Look at all our ‘miracle seasons’. We looked down every time and got out of it. Just takes a bit of form for a low side to finish above others.
Norwich didn't leave the bottom 4 from the 23rd game.
Hull is a decent example, but they didn't go down
Newcastle have been around the bottom since the season started and wouldn't be classed as dropping like a stone if they go down
Have a look and see if you can actually find one that goes down.

Our miracle seasons are the opposite of what you said about Brighton.

I can only think of Birmingham who were mid table and won the league cup and ended up going down on 39 points.
Usually the teams that go down are round the foot of the table early on and stay there

Blackpool in the same season started well but think they started falling rapidly by about November
They were 19th on New years day when they lost 3 0 to arsenal

I didn't though, I've said the takeover talks are taking place but complicated by various issues such as impending relegation, HMRC and the fact that Kenyon is having to run backwards between his 'investors' and the club. As with what happened with Staveley, Mr Ashley doesn't entertain endless prevarication. Newcastle supporters simultaneously claim that NUFC has massive potential but that Ashley should sell it cheap to speed up a sale. You can't have it both ways, either the club is a fantastic opportunity or not.

Besides, it's passed on information that I trust, not actually first hand knowledge.

One thing I've been told is that some investors are the same that Staveley was courting, we'll see.

I'm not sure that basically saying they're shite is keeping team spirit up like

I posted a while back that there's a split in the dressing room, as told to me by a Mag of 40 years of support.

Shelvey is described as toxic and it looked that way when he came on.

I was also told that some players are 'suffering' under the current tactics and feel their careers are going backwards, Lascelles is the main one.

I watched the game last night and paid attention based on what I was told ..... it seemed to ring true after that performance.

Shelvey looks like he couldn't give a shit and is just entertaining himself, I think he'll be gone soon if anyone wants him.

Interesting like.
As you say, after watching last night, it seems very much believable.

It's been said on here and Twitter before, but there are many similarities between Rafa's mags this season and Moyes' safc season. The main one being the mood of utter apathy around the club

Manchester United players in awe of banner. Nothing to do with the fact they're facing the goal they're attacking. No sir.

@worflags: Know what I love about this photo? Almost every single Manchester player is looking at our banner. All 50m of it. That's the famous Geordies for you that lads. #nufc #united Wor Flags on Twitter

 f***ing hell man, they are completely insane. Just about to kick off, what do they expect the team to be doing - bowing down to Mecca?

Shelvey was their most creative player and was having banter with other players.

He's their most creative player who can't get a regular place in the team.

As I said there's supposed to be a slit between pro and anti Benitez players, the training ground fight was part of that.

Has he been injured or is fatty simply choosing more defensively minded players?

From what I saw last night Shelvey just isn't a team player and only wants to show off, no tracking back or putting in meaningful tackles.

He's supposed to have had specialist treatment for his 'anger issues' yet came on and raked his studs down a players leg.

As Father Jack said the teamwork went to pieces as soon as he came on.
