He’ll probably turn out to be a canny enough signing but the wankfest from pundits, journalists and fans alike after his performance against one of the worst sides in Premier League history was always going to be overkill.

I want to see him do well because it will mean more people (players and clubs) will see MLS as a possible stepping stone for bigger leagues in Europe, so overall league quality will improve and when I make my infrequent trips down to DC I may even be able to see decent quality football.
