New signing apparently - Cabral from Basle.....

You know that if Redgauntlet can get any sort of negative angle on anything Sunderland related he bloody well will. Hopefully we'll get a decent start to the season and that'll keep him off here,

Well, I would give a happy (but unrealistic) version, but what's the point? There's already enough fairy tales on here. Or is it fairies tails?

in the sun? :roll::roll:

Me! Read the f-cking sun. I'd read my stars before that. It's no coincidence that there are around 8 million illiterates in this country and there are around 8 million sun readers.

Some opinions from FC Basel supporters about Cabral http://www.safcblog.com/2013/05/30/what-you-need-to-know-about-cabral/

We do need more options in the middle, especially if we're letting a few go, but I'm not sure someone that sounds so defensively minded is a priority.

Plenty of time left of course.

Pdc might see big alf as a more forward runner ala toure at his best hes pushed forward. And looking at our options they are all light weight carbon copies of each other and our main centre mid cant stay f***ing fit.

This, Alf looks better, when he pushes further up the pitch

With our current system, and indeed the system which seems quite dominant in general at the moment, the two central midfielders both need to be good defensively.

Ideally, one will push forward and play as more 'box-to-box', but you don't see too many players in there who can't be relied upon to do their bit defensively.

Cabral and N'Diaye, on paper at least, should be a good partnership. With Cabral holding and N'Diaye getting box to box. Both really strong, athletic and with a turn of pace too.

Good stuff. Not seen much of this Cabral, but I believe N'Diaye has the attributes, although admittedly he's still a little raw, to do a job both defensively and in attack.

Never been capped for Switzerland, only ever played in the Swiss league...Not getting my hopes up with this one tbh. Could be decent squad filler maybe.

One negative being that neither of them are capable of scoring goals.

I think N'Diaye is, got in good positions relatively often and I reckon goals will come from him. I think the biggest downside is that neither is the greatest passer of the ball, coupled with the fact that Sessegnon isn't either and we might need to replace Sessegnon with a number 10 that can pick a pass.

He's played in the champions league you clown playing very well in the two games I saw him in and he stood out for me as one of the best players in those games. The opposition Man United who were knocked out by basle after they failed to beat them once with a 3-3 draw at Old trafford and a 2-1 defeat in switzerland.

Sess has on occassions fucked around with the ball instead of passing it but his range of passing is class

I love Sess but he will usually try and overcomplicate things, I wonder how much Chelsea would take for Mata?

His goals record doesn't really back that up. It's fairly easy from what we've seen so far from the chances that he has missed as to why he scores so few.

Hopefully he can add goals to his game but with the best will in the world I'd be surprised if he managed more than three or four.

Sess is the same. Easy to see why his goal scoring record prior to him arriving here was relatively poor and why he struggles to get into double figures. No composure.
