New owner

So if he has 59% and Sartori retains 20% Methven retains 5, then Donald retains 16. Is that correct ? Far better but our mission remains to get the southern opportunist blaggers out of our club.

It’s not ideal, but it’s better than what we had. At least these charlatans are one foot out of the door hopefully.

Just a pure assumption on my part but I would like to think that the £30 million is inclusive of the £11 million for the loan. No matter how much money he has I don't think he would have paid £41 million for 59% of a club in League 1
There is no doubt £11m of his funds will go to the loan.

1) I couldn’t give a flying fuck how much the current three owners make from this transaction, fair play to them for seeing an opportunity and taking advantage.
2) Given the soon to be owner has a trust fund worth £2bn, at £30m, he’s probably earnt that £30m in interest over the last couple of months, so it’s hardly going to concern him much.
3) I’m excited to see where this new ownership model and current plans take us...my expectations aren’t high given the history of my 44 years on this planet, and things can’t get any worse now we have a lad with worth a few quid in his pockets rather than a couple of chancers!

Often said on takeover thread that stumpy and salmon held the cards.
They paid fuck all and used the parachute payments hence we have the squad we have with only the Grigg signing showing any signs of it and even that was with add ons which Wigan can whistle for.
FPP will have their coin back but can't see KLD paying that back.

The important thing here is that it should happen soon, we need it. Dreyfus is no mug and don’t forget he apparently renegotiated the share split in order to give him control.

It will be interesting to see if his mate Sartori has gone down to 20%, or whether Donald and Methven were squeezed a little more.

It basically amounts to him getting the price he paid for the club despite demonstrably devaluing it during his tenure - plus getting him out of the FPP loan consequence free. What a prick.

Aye, I get all the anger - but ultimately, what were people expecting? That he takes a hit and we get rid? Fairyland.

Any hit he would have taken, would have ended up hurting us, so let's just be thankful he's not longer driving the f***ing car. Bad enough he's still in the boot, without getting angry about other things.

The Times article is by Martin Hardy. It's couched in such terms as "The Times understands". It might be true, it might not. Here's the relevant extracted clause:

"The Times understands that the total valuation of the club in his purchase will be around £30 million, with an £11 million loan to FPP Sunderland Limited repaid. The EFL owners and directors test is expected to be passed this week."

Here's a link to the full article, for those who have access:

Very dubious about the accuracy of that number.

No credible buyer pays double the true value on a purchase.
End of the day if you want something you pay the money. Whilst I absolutely begrudge Donald making a killing on the deal, perhaps somebody paying over the odds for us could be interpreted as a signal of intent? Far better than someone buying the club on the cheap with a view to making a profit...

Anywhere I can read the article without a Times subscription?

And am I reading it that he has paid £30M to Donald minus £11M to the Yanks, or £30M to Donald plus £11M to the Yanks? I presume the former rather than the latter?
This. £19M for 59% values us at about £32M which is in the ballpark of the figures that have been thrown about for the last year or so.

Edit - if I’d read the article and rest of thread I would have seen that the total value of the club is £30M not Dreyfus’ payment

Set to be confirmed by next week according to The Times

Great news. Time to press on and undo all the terrible stuff Donald and Methven did. Bit like Joe Biden

Not bad considering Donald only spent £5m to purchase the club in the 1st place

It’s incredibly galling that KLD would have to stump up for the loan. Remember that the loan was taken out and passed off as Donald repaying the parachute payments. Effectively KLD has funded two purchases of the club.
Its all wrong he adds it to the price anyway imo

Donald takes out a loan “he didnt he” and hasnt used last time he spoke about it. He then adds it to the asking price. Ridiculous
