Isn't the new Black Grape album out tomorrow?
Listened to Broken Social Scene on way to work, was expecting big things as has had good reviews and I love their previous stuff.
Really disappointed, hasn't grabbed me at all
Listened to it earlier. I hoped it wouldn't but it's not great, very bleak like the subject matter.oddly - the impending PSB album release on friday has me thinking something very similar...

It's not bad. Doesn't grab me especially but it's alrightMy mate's band released an an EP today if anyone's got nowt to listen to, it's on Spotify and Apple music etc. Got a nice write up in The Line of Best Fit & on DIY this week. They're called Forever Cult.
I liked the first 2 tracks then it's just a lot of "meh". Will end up being one of those records no one talks about again in a couple of weeks.Haim is a bit meh. Not as disappointing as I feared, and there are a couple of very good tracks, but it's definitely overpolished and a bit Days Are Gone-lite.
Yeah I like the first 2 and "Right Now", but everything else is quite forgettable.I liked the first 2 tracks then it's just a lot of "meh". Will end up being one of those records no one talks about again in a couple of weeks.
I think the Public Service Broadcasting album is very good. I like the way they are evolving with guest vocalists etc

that second jesse malin track is comfortably the worst thing he's ever recorded, sounds about twenty years out of dateI'm not a massive fan of the new Jesse Malin EP. The first track is like a reject from an early 00s Dandy Warhols album. With the second, I can see what he's trying to do but I just don't like/get it. The last 2 songs are more like I'd expect from his solo stuff style-wise, they just aren't anything special.
On a brighter note, Haim is growing on me. It's still a disappointment but I'm warming to it!
