New Inn for Seaburn seafront.

I understand that but a leisure pool is only used by young kids therefore limited from a revenue perspective. I don’t disagree that a leisure pool isn’t a bad idea for the city I just don’t think it should be in seaburn. Could easily be accommodated in the city centre where something of that size would be more appropriate.

Not just young kids...my teenager and his mates had to go to Haven at Shields today to go for a fun swim (my eldest is nearly 14 and stage 10 swimming) He doesnt want to compete at a beach location with his mates wearing goggles and having a bloke shouting at him with a timer

Fair enough I guess times have changed and must admit I didn’t think haven point would entertain kids of that age thought it was geared towards younger kids, perhaps I’m wrong.

I think my main point however is that a leisure pool yes I can understand the desire for one I just don’t think it should be on the sea front. City centre much more appropriate and more accessible for people across the city.

Don’t the city pools have some huge inflatable assault courses on for kids?

This plan looks really good, also can’t wait for the next stage which is 200-300 houses next to seafields. Also the car park next to Martinos is gearing up

Think they’ve pulled back on the 200-300 homes now, at least according to the press releases and the conservative cllr.

Absolutely fantastic news for the seafront and city as a whole. Things are really picking up here. It's time we invested more in the marketing of the area, as Miller says it is "the crown jewel of the city" and I believe as it stands, the seafront is our best shot at challenging negative conceptions of the area as a whole.

An indoor swimming pool is used all year round and can be part of the school curriculum. Seaburn beach is FANTASTIC when its sunny...but bleak for visitors (and locals) if its not.
My youngest goes to the Aquatic Center for swimming lessons...not for fun

We had an indoor leisure pool and it closed due to not being financially viable i.e. nee bugger using it

This is the one I mentioned on the other thread, it will be on site before Christmas, complete before next Christmas.

Things are ramping up quite a bit. We have had loads on enquires lately on jobs that have been planned for ages but not getting anywhere, all of a sudden there seems to be a high priority in progressing development as quickly as possible. Not sure if there are any new people at the top that are driving things faster.

Why the fuck you would want an indoor swimming pool down the seafront god only knows.
To be fair it's something that's missing from the city, although I agree it could be anywhere it would be an attraction for the area if they're looking to increase leisure facilities, stuff to do when the weather isn't that great etc.

The Aquatic Centre pool is shite for kids like. Last time I had the bairn there we called it a day because he was shivvering with the cold. Bit further up the road to Haven Point and it's spot on. It's going to be hard to avoid drawing comparisons with that.
