New Inn for Seaburn seafront.

More good news. But a pub will be making some of the locals spit in to their Ovaltine tonight.
I will look out on facebook for posts about 'what about leisure facilities for kids', 'there's already too many pubs' and insinuations that Miller has taken a back hander.

Good to see that page mention upgrades to seaburn camp infrastructure to make it better for touring caravans. As some locals were claiming the council would just be doing away with that.

Too late they’ve already started:

Won’t be used
Council back handers
Pulled down a hotel before to build a new hotel
Waste of money
Need a leisure centre for the kids
Need stuff for kids to do - don’t want them in coffee shops (god forbid!)
Seaburn doesn’t need poncy coffee shops etc..
Loads of comments about stack!!

It really does begger belief.

Absolute arseholes mate. Some just love to moan

As a side notice, does anybody know what they are doing with the units that have been knocked down on Palmers Hill Road (Dame Dot/Roker area) next to St Peter's church https://tracking code removed/maps/xexumRMacHK5tmQm8

They’ve made a lovely job building the amble Inn but I hope the food offerings are better at this one . Brilliant news , not too high either so a great addition to the seafront. Still think there’s a need for more new housing , once the Miller site is built it will be interesting to see if plans to build adjacent to seafields go ahead

Welcome addition to the seafront drawn by a seven-year-old

Actually think it should be higher - 5 storeys feels about right. Think apartments on the sea front is a no brainer personally but seems they are moving away from that. Very much doubt that more retail and leisure will be viable without more residential development.

Won’t be used (probably will)
Council back handers (Probably YES)
Pulled down a hotel before to build a new hotel (This looks better)
Waste of money (Its the Council)
Need a leisure centre for the kids (Ermm YES!!!!!Indoor swimming pool)
Need stuff for kids to do - don’t want them in coffee shops (THIS)
Seaburn doesn’t need poncy coffee shops etc..(Well it does...in proportion)
Loads of comments about stack!! (well the Stack could be expensive, tick a box for temporary leisure, and open the door for HOUSING after its gone)

I totally disagree that the sea front needs a swimming pool. The whole point of a sea front is so that you are outdoors enjoying it or looking at it. We’ve got plenty of swimming pools elsewhere in the city.

Ps i don’t think it’s the council doing / funding this either but The hotel operator themselves. So not a waste of council money?

I was in the Stack in Newcastle on Friday and its class. Be a fantastic addition to Seaburn

An indoor swimming pool is used all year round and can be part of the school curriculum. Seaburn beach is FANTASTIC when its sunny...but bleak for visitors (and locals) if its not.
My youngest goes to the Aquatic Center for swimming lessons...not for fun
