Colin Graves from Yorkshire.

Know nothing about him but Aggers reckons it'll make no difference with Pietersen but it's likely to mean cricket going back on the telly.

Can't be as much of a bell as the last one!

Re cricket on't council telly, we keep being told that no terrestial channels are interested.
Think donestic 20/20 might be best we can hope for

He'll be another clown to go along with the rest of them killing English cricket. Wankers

Can't be worse than Clarke.

He was willing to see cricket mutilated as long as the money came in.

Graves seems to be the sort of person who could keep county cricket alive and still have a healthy balance sheet.

Do you have a less wankerish alternative as he seems a good appointment to me?

What makes you think he's a good appointment?

Done an excellent job at yorkshire on playing side all way down to grass roots. Sorted their finances out through mixture of bail outs and sensible financial management. Most importantly, not an old school tie or ex player sort. Will be a bit of an outsider which will be good.

Who is your candidate?

Valid points. Personally I just want to see the ECB stripped from top to bottom & replaced with people who have played the game and understand the general punters (Not upper class bellends like Downton who averaged less than 20 at test level and played something like less than 30 test matches) Until that is done, I cannot see this appointment making one bit of difference. Rotten to the core.

I know people will laugh probably, but the ECB need people like Geoff Cook

Paul Downton played the game. That is enough for me to support sucesful business people over professional sports adminstraters every time.

He might be a disaster and you may be proved right but he comes to job with plenty of goodwill, simply for the fact that he isnt Giles Clarke

Carlton Palmer played for England..............
Howard Wilkinson managed England.......
It does seem like you're twisting the criteria to say why Downton's a bad appointment (I'm not disagreeing). Just because someone has played the game doesn't mean they're the right person to guide it's future. Botham's massively experienced but he comes out with some absolute crap.

Don't think playing is that relevant (would you let the likes of Botham near the thing?), just think they need someone who can see the bigger picture.

Clarke was all about short term cash and f***ing the sport over long term.

If you want a tv pundit to shake things up surely Bob Willis is the man. Not my cup of tea but at least he has a vision for English cricket which he has stuck to for the last 20 years.
He'd get my vote to be honest, he speaks his mind. Geoff Cook would be another.
Ian Botham? The man who endorsed Allen Stanfords cricket revolution, now serving 110 years in prison. I think Sir Beefy should stick to the easy life of commentating.
