In all the debate, why is everyone ignoring the fact she's not the 13th
Or do we wipe poor old John hurt from memory now he's passed away
He was the War Doctor and for whatever reason doesn't count. Great episode though.
Randomly Joanna Lumley was the 13th Doctor in a Comic Relief sketch.
Dr who threads? Nah this is my first.
He's a future doctor incarnation that we haven't had yet. So she is the 13th in current time.
I like her, she's a good actress. Eighty percent of comments on the net have been positive apparently.
Enjoy it as much as the next lad.
He was between McGann and Eccleston.
There was the thing about Smith being the last regeneration because Tennant used an extra one and Hurt counted.
This is actually where it'll start to become an awkward mess (not the part about the Mail), because nothing I've seen from Chibnall indicates he has the ability to handle these aspects of the show either maturely and/or in an interesting fashion.
Well there was about 10 in a comic relief sketch once.
I just dunno why they seem to be ignoring Hurt, who was class
Yep. Smith got a new set from gallifrey cos Clara whinged at them (as she did). She's definitely the 14th incarnation of that person
I watched it recently, like chopping onions in a dusty room.
He was head writer on Torchwood which featured a strong female lead, his Wikipedia page suggests to me he is ideally suited to tackle this and tackle it well.
Ridiculous, the name of the show is dr who for fucks sake! not nurse who or healthcare assistant who. Won't be watching again
He wasn't "head writer" on Torchwood at all and female lead is overselling it. He wrote seven episodes including the dreadful 'Cyber Woman.' You should probably check Wikipedia again. Or even better, watch some of his work, especially the Doctor Who stuff since it's most pertinent. He's easily one of the weakest writers since Doctor Who made a comeback.
I know you're taking the piss but I believe the majority of medical students at British universities are female.
Looking to bag a doctor early no doubt.
And what has happened to the Valeyard, between the 12th and 13th?
Looks like the first thing she does is travel back in time to 2010 & steal Jennifer Saunders' hairstyle.
I know a lass starting her FY1 in August. I imagine dating someone with their lifestyle and commitments would be bloody difficult with all the shifts and such.
Yes he was head writer and also co-produced. I would suggest you re-read it.
I watched Tw and thoroughly enjoyed it. I've not seen Broadchurch but it's popularity and subsequent awards would suggest DW is in good hands.
I was talking about this today with Mrs S and I said why do women want to be independent from men if all they do is copy what we do? We've always had football, cricket, rugby etc and it would appear that girls are abandoning traditional sports like netball etc to play these. I made the mistake of saying that it's hardly girl power if all you do is copy the men. It didn't go down well.
The Doctor has always been played by a bloke so they demanded the role went to a woman, not for her acting skills presumably. Like I said before, the PC brigade have achieved their aims and will move on to the next fight, without ever watching the show. Ultimately though, the modern show is rubbish, so whatever the BBC do, it will eventually be cancelled as ratings have been terrible for a few years and having a woman play the role means there will have to be a massive improvement in the stories if it's going to make past another series.
It's been great on Twitter where anybody who was less than enthusiastic was deemed to a "hater" and hounded like they had committed some kind of criminal offence.
Better to keep out of that.
