New boiler costs

Baxi, 5 year warrenty, ADEY

We're moving the boiler location though so the new one is getting fitted in the next room along to where it is currently. Do you think the price seems ok?
Sounds like a Main boiler which is made by Baxi but only comes with 5 years warranty , it’s a lot cheaper than the Baxi 800 series which as pointed out has a 10 years warranty & the filter included
also check the output , whether it’s a 25 KW or 30KW , also has a factor in price

Cheers, will do.

I'd definitely recommend him, he did my mam and dads for us and it made a refreshing change.
Turned up to quote when he said he would.
Provided the quote when he said he would.
Started the job when he said he would.
Came out straight away to fix a little niggle.
Now that may sound like nothing and is what you would expect but just wait till you start dealing with some of the shysters that are around
Forgot to say although we had a brand new two pipe system fitted the house was left spotless everyday and there was minimum disruption at what was a very stressful time for us :(
And no I'm not on commission just giving credit where its due

Got the baxi 830 with 10 year warranty for £2.2k few months before Covid started, old boiler was about to go any minute

Nowt wrang with the Main 30 mind imo.
As for 10 year warranties, good luck when the baxi engineer visits. Heard about some right arseholes using any trick in the book to wriggle out of paying up on the warranty. One last week said he found signs of sludge near the f***ing magnaflow and the system was dirty.

Yeah , they’re decent boilers for the money but obviously a lot cheaper than a 830 ( mainly down to difference in warranty )
As far as warranty is concerned I fit mainly Worcester Bosch , there’s is a guarantee , as long as the boiler has been serviced , they will fix it

What was it for ? Make , model etc

Got to look at the bigger picture
Their are huge overheads involved , accountant fees , vat , van payments , tools , running costs , certification etc etc
It’s not just the bottom line figure

Decent make / model is more than that
There’s been huge price increases in last couple of years
I can get a 25 for under 600, a 35 for well under a grand

Boiler itself will be under a grand but they charge a fortune for fitting.
Don't blame them, having your name on something that can blow up or kill someone should cost a fortune imo
Go electric? Or an alternative energy source?

Gas is being abandoned
In the long run maybes but leccy prices are ridiculous. Said on the energy thread someone I know is paying £500 per month on leccy because they have no gas and everything is electric 😳

Unit cost of electric will be decoupled from gas prices. There’s the supply / demand affecting the gas prices…..Norway becoming the primary producer of gas for Europe after countries stop buying from Russia will drive prices up. Atm it’s not cheaper but it will be to be 100% electric. Also as a finite fuel, gas will only become more scarce. Renewables will only increase making them electricity relatively cheaper

Correct. An air source heat pump is as expensive to run as a gas boiler. The whole things a f***ing sham.

Ours is getting installed tomorrow (thank fuck, the last week has been a bit chilly!), £3k but that includes moving the boiler from the kitchen up into the loft and bricking up the hole. Includes hive as well so it can all be controller via an app or Alexa etc.

I know a lad who knocks out a straight swop Main 30 supplied and fitted £1600. All above board, the boiler is registered blah blah.
Decent value I think. I got him to sort my fathas out a few weeks ago, he had a maintenance contract with SSE who refused to do any more work on his old one, but paid him£ 250 as a contribution to a new boiler install, as long as an invoice was supplied. So he only paid 1350 all in. Cracking deal
