Of course we sell more shirts than any other league one club, we are f***ing Sunderland in league one! Dont take us for granted though. It's a dangerous route to take to instantly dismiss the grievances of a fanbase who remain loyal despite the failures we've endured.

Two relegations plus two years at our lowest ever level and you expect me to pay the same price as when we were in the premier league? No thanks.

I'm not expert on this but I would have thought that lowering the price may also damage the brand/image of the club, potentially seeing the shirts as 'cheap' and likely to impact sales. Manufacturers may not like this.

The only people buying Sunderland shirts are Sunderland supporters, so that argument doesn't really make sense does it. Because we can't be fooled into thinking we're a premier league club with premier league merchandise, because we aren't. The shirt isn't being sold in Nike stores in America or worldwide. It's either being sold in Tyne and Wear, or online, bought by existing Sunderland fans.

Prices should always replicate demand. Is there a huge demand for a kit marketed as our third league one kit with next to no new signings?

The club sell more shirts than any other League One club and most Championship clubs too. That to me says the pricing is right.
It's not just about price elasticity of demand though is it?
It's about the club reconnecting with the fans. At £50 it feels too much and fans (as shown on here) feel the club are trying to squeeze every last penny out of folk. Dropping the price by £10-20 may not have sold many more shirts but maybe folk may have bought something else at the same time or felt a bit better about the club which could impact on future revenue streams.

Who sets the price?

I'd be very interested to see how our prices compare to Prem, Champ and League 1 clubs.

Again, talking rubbish. They are good quality, you can barely tell they’re fake and so long as you don’t tumble dry them, they last forever. At least my mates kids have, so far
I have some great quality NFL and MLB shirts bought from them, cant comment on footy shirts though.

DH gate is fine for most stuff but the Sunderland shirts last year had a cheaper badge than the one the proper ones had (if that is even possible). Would think it will be the same with this year's too. Collar was a bit off on the home shirt but not as noticeable.

Not as relevant to our division, but considering how minted the Premier League clubs are it's a piss take fans are charged £70 for a shirt and £40+ a match ticket. Pints usually north of £5.

Get £100million a season from TV but still fleece the fans, pathetic.
Not sure if the English clubs do it but Real Madrid back in 2011ish were flogging home shirts for 100 Euros each but they had 3 - a league shirt, a champions league shirt and a cup shirt too.

A few years ago football strips were £40 for a short sleeve and £40-50 for a long sleeve. Now you’re doing well to get one for £50, and then some clubs sell the player version as well for approaching £100. It’s shocking, but clearly some will pay it.

People are paying more for less as well. Crests aren’t fully stitched like they were years ago, ditto the manufacturer for some brands as well, and sponsors are screen printed as opposed to the classic felt style that were more hard wearing.

I’ll get my kids one now and again, but not sure I’ll bother for myself unless they designed us something truly superb.
Well if people stop buying them they will be forced to drop the prices, no way on I'd pay them prices.

People are...!

Purchasing from DHGate is becoming wide spread. In the next 10 years hardly anyone will be buying the official merchandise IMHO. Clubs and sports manufacturers are taking the piss out of fans, even the FA are with their continuous England strips. SKY & BT are UEFA, FIFA... it will come to a head.

 I suppose God loves a trier ( if you believe in such religious claptrap like )

Three home shirts? On top of an away shirt, 3rd shirt and training shirt no doubt.

No better than parasites in my view.

Aye - it was mainly tourists buying them like.

Mind you Man City are flogging two shirts this season - one for £70 and another for £110. Only difference being a bit of white detailing on the collar as far as I can tell.
