Never a penalty

Aye, I acknowledged in the quotes the officials only have a second to make a decision(mind you i managed fine on a poor stream). Not remotely stonewall though, open to interpretation leaning towards no penalty imo.

Yeah not stonewall mate,I agree, that's all you here that's never a pen, that's a stonewall etc, there never seems to be any middle ground most of the time.

However with this particular instance I though pen,as did most people tbf,and the very fact a lot on here (Sunderland supporters)did also tells a story for me.

Yep, could have gone either way and I don't think much complaint could be made whether it was given or not. I lent towards no penalty at the time, i'll stick with it but understand it being given. One of those things. And it doesn't excuse the defending of the other goals anyway. We lost that game on our own.

Looks like it's hit his tricep. If that's not upper arm what is?

Of course, I'm thinking in opposites for some reason, probably because the lower arm is the highest point in this instance.

Yeah think that is the problem with a lot of pen decisions and have said it for ages, happen that quick so difficult therefore some you get some you don't that's football.

Yes exactly!!![/QUOT

I am not interpreting. I have read the rule as it is.

Was a deliberate handball and therefore a penalty no matter how you look at it. If he's putting his hands up to make himself bigger then he's intending to block it with his hand. If he's putting his hand up to protect his face then he's intending to handle it. Claiming it is accidental would be possible in any situation and a referee could never prove that it was intentional, so they use rules of thumb such as 'unnatural position' to encourage consistency.

Obviously they don't always (and often don't) get it right but Denayer's was one of the most obvious I've seen, even in real time. Notice that when Kone looks to block a cross, he has his hands touching behind his back - that's pretty much standard practice now for defenders. By setting precedents regarding 'unnatural positions' the referees have placed the onus on players to keep their arms from interfering - which makes things clearer and thus fairer.

Ridiculous he wasn't even looking at the ball.

Are people purposing just saying the op is wrong because he has some sort of history of being a wind up poster or do people seriously think that if a ball hits your hand it should always be a pen?

Or is it that if your hand is above a certain angle and the ball hits it then it is a pen?

The rule is hand has to deliberately hit the ball, interpretation by most is hand has to be in an unnatural position. Both of those are completely subjective ideas 99% of the time when a player is running around a pitch at full tilt swinging their body around.

Doesnt really matter whether youre looking at the ball if youre using your arms to make yourself bigger to stop the ball like.

Show me where the fuck it says that in the rules. Good luck because it doesn't say that . The rule is clear it has to be deliberate.

Far enough away to lift his arms up. Pen all day long

Show me the rule where it says that you ignoramus.

Show me the actual rule where it says that.

Good news. We can prevent goals from corners. All we have to do is line up on the goal line and do star jumps facing the net.

Show me the rule.

Show me the rule that justifies that decision

denayerwas an idiot to do that

Show me the rule to justify that decision.

Penna arl day

Show me the rule that says none deliberate handball is a penalty you fuckwit.

Always a advantage when you freeze frame it,not sure when refs and linesman get to see them like, think fair to say when you stick your arm up like that and the ball goes onto that part a pen will be given majority of times.

The rules are clear . It has to be DELIBERATE.

Penna all day for me. Shouldn't be putting his hands up there.

The rule is crystal clear . It had to be deliberate.

It was deliberate handball because directives given to referees in 2010 tell them to interpret players making themselves bigger by putting their arms in an unnatural position as deliberate. Therefore if it is deemed deliberate it is a penalty according to the rules.

Never a Penalty in a million years.

David Moyes. Two yards away from the ball. No intention to block it with hand. Thank you David. Anyone who doesn't agree fuck off and support someone else.

It was a penalty though, if only because he actually has his arm up for quite a long time. The replay of it on match of the day doesn't do denayor any justice.

He has his arm up, then twists and keeps his arm up. Very foolish

Puzzled how it can be deliberate when not looking at ball.
