Neuer should be off

I'd say its a foul on neuer if anything. He was the only one in control of that situation.
Eh higuain was about to bring it down on his chest keeper lead with his knee no different to a deliberate elbow

If your going to give outfield players red cards for winning the ball but with studs up or two feet how is it ok too flying knee someone in the jaw at 50 mph! Its clearly dangerous play
Said the same meself. Won the ball clean as a whistle but outfielders are sent off for a less worse in the name of "over aggression"

He should be off to the Olympics if get can reach speeds of 50 mph

In English and Spanish, announcers said right off this was a red card, wasn't called, the refs let them play.

I have no problem with the follow through as a goalie.

But the knee used as a weapon was a straight red for me.

Ref was a chicken.

to be honest, i was surprised when the free kick was given in germany's favour.
neither player had the ball under control therefore both were entitled to challenge for it but for some reason 'keepers always get the benefit of the doubt, as it was at the edge of the box i would have to say dangerous play from the 'keeper.

Don't understand anyone who can't see the decision was correct - higuain put himself in danger in an attempt to fool the ref into giving a pen / f.kick. I'm 100% serious here btw; unless higuain genuinely thought he could control a ball that was 9 foot in the air he should have got out of the way - he did obstruct the keeper who could get the ball wheras he could not. neuer was well within his rights to go full blooded for that ball & probably expected higuain to make more of a proper challenge; the latter clearly went in with the intention of winning the ball, that is the foul here.

I Thought it was great keeping myself, he clearly got the ball and then they collided afterwards. Great clean out.

I laughed when it happened because I did something earlier to a striker in a game I played in today and he got booked for tripping me up after he fell
Sounding like a broken record here but the fact he got the ball doesn't matter. The question is was it dangerous from Neuer.

obviously that last line should read "the latter clearly went in with no intention of winning the ball"

Sending off for me too. Whether or not it was dangerous play it was a foul on higuain and he was the last man

In that case it was dangerous from Higuain too

Doesn't matter if he was the last man, it wasn't a clear cut goal scoring opportunity

Thanks for the link. Looks like dangerous play from the keeper, although you could argue it's 2 players going for a 50/50 ball and one getting there first. If an outfield player wins the ball with a raised leg, what would the referee do?
IF video of this wasn't posted in this lengthy thread of the incident, it can be watched here.

Of course, that is an Argentina website, it seems they are saying possibly a penalty could have been called but I don't get it, it's right on the edge of the box. So they may be bias, okay. Still, other points stand in the discussion. Dangerous play.

Liked to have seen what would have happened if it was the other way round and the keeper took one like that. Keepers get away with a lot that outfield players don't. Doesn't make either right.
