He would have a confidence in his own ability to get his team to a certain level - do this and you will succeed very similar to Allardyce in that they know if they get the players to do the job they know from experience the outcome and can demonstrate to players that their methods work.

Moyes failed at both Man United and Sunderland in that the players did not believe in his methods would achieve the necessary results they needed and they wanted to achieve and he was not able to demonstrate that his methods were succesful for either scenario winning trophies or surviving relegation.

Moyes would perfect for an established mid table team such as West Brom / Stoke.
 
Even if you thought you could hire him for a year then move on to someone else once you got promoted, and it's a train of thought I can see, you'd be tasking him with signing half a squad then potentially having to totally rebuild AGAIN next summer. Whoever we appoint, we at least need some expectation that they'd be around longer than a year if things were going well.
