And you'll know that for a fact eh, where do you think they got it from then?

The Chronicle as quoted by them allegedly got it from a Lorient official. Yet you got it from a SAFC insider? I suppose a SAFC insider would see a Lorient offical being taken aback by such an offer then press ahead wouldn't he??

I smell bullshit. It's myth became real among fans after being published in the Chronicle.

Which insider did you get it from?

NO ones bigging him up to be something that he isn't. People are actually looking at what he's doing on the pitch and debating that. Some like yourself are just trying to use his fee as a stick to beat him with regardless of what he's doing. That is wrong, but typical of you on here.

Why would a defensive midfield control a game? Liverpool last season was about as close as a defensive minded midfield could come to that, he was exceptional so there's one. Expecting him to control the tempo of the game is bullshit though, it's like expecting a target man to run in behind a defence or a central defender to get telling crosses in. It's not part of his game, so concentrate on what he's actually trying to do.
A defensive midfielder is supposed to get a grip of the midfield ffs:lol:

This kid has to be told what to do constantly hes as imposing on a game as rodwell and sadly about as effective.

Waste of money so far. I thought the goal at Palace was something we'd be seeing more of. He needs to be showing a lot more than he currently is if we are to stamp some authority on this league.
That Palace game was a bizarre outlier. Not sure where it came from, and it never reappeared. We were all dazed at half time on the concourse.

Depends what type of defensive midfielder he is. Ndong is tenacious gets tackles in, nips in front of people, closes down quickly etc. I've gave an instance of where that's controlled the flow of a game, but you seem to be wanting one where it's on the ball only. Your argument is therefore flawed as I previously pointed out.

Concentrate on your own team, Mag
If only they could extend hibernation periods:lol:

Absolutely not. You can pinpoint the goal as a negative if you're wanting to be picky, though it wasn't directly his fault. The rest of the game he clearly had a positive influence - if you choose to ignore it then it's a f***ing agenda probably based on his fee as with Hughbert.
Once again that is an opinion, I personally think he is an utterly frustrating player, he is inconsistent and has lapses especially in his passing. Whether you like it or not any judgement on any player will be directly linked to their perceived value on the transfer narket and to try to take that out of the equation is never going to hapoen.

You can think what you want, the only certain quote was from Lorient's president:
“But when the last offer, €20million, and probably a little more with the bonus, arrived, his departure became inevitable for several reasons."

It was an awful deal. I like his energy, helps us with pressure on opposition midfielders, but he lacks anything else, he's a headless chicken atm, just like a poor man's Lorik Cana.
He might improve, but I can't see the hype from his last game. He should show more at this level.

I was interested in what you were saying and trying to see your point, until your last question, ermmmm Ellis Short, does that suffice!

Only poor tackle (which was close mind it could be argued he got there first as his outstretched leg was close) was the one he lost his cool about and it wasn't that far back IIRC. His energy will be invaluable to the way we play.

Was around 20-25 yards out, but yeah that was the one. He won the ball initially but the second one was definitely a foul, he chopped the other lad down. But yeah that was the only poor tackle he made, it was just an example of why I think he's a bit too rash at times.

He's the only one in our squad who's fast enough and has enough stamina to play that role so I agree that he'll be a big player for us this year. Just personally didn't think he was as good on Friday as he has previously been.

I certainly was. Not as dazed as our coach driver as I gave him my fatha's match ticket for nowt as he couldn't travel. One lad I know went to get the beers in and missed two goals

Done every league game last season and that bizarre first half was the highlight of the whole, sorry campaign. Well - apart from meeting @Wakey ftm in Sussex at Bournemouth followed by "The Victor Show":cool:

It's not his fault we paid probably twice what he is worth.
Moyes has an awful eye for midfielders.
Mcnair, ndong and Gibson...22m plus wages on that lot and right now we wouldn't get 5m for the lot.
People bleat on about short but that just epitomizes how we waste money due to managers.
Throw in the 8m for papy and it is even more depressing.

Now this is an agenda. From the boards resident spamtwat.

Some people on here don't appreciate the high intensity work he gets through and the amount of times he breaks up play.

He's a team player who people who have played the game will appreciate and I for one would have loved to play alongside.

He covered every blade of grass
So he runs about loads is what youre saying?

To the actual football though. Whats he good at?

Think he needs playing further forward mesell.

Get what you're saying but we were well covered in the area too. He took up a position towards the far post in the box looking for a cut back when Johnson could have been attacked from the far post.

We weren't that we'll covered, the player who scored (who he was marking) and another were completely free but he didn't try to get between them and our goal which is basic stuff. He switched off and Johnson didn't. He could and should have been putting at least a challenge in. He tracked him then decided to stop at the critical moment

Nowt to talk about on ur own board skunk?

Closed down, tackled, put pressure on the opposition which allowed us to play two strikers and further up the pitch.

Key moment later in the game tracking a runner into our box and saving a certain one on one situation.

Had a good game overall.

People need to get over his fee a bit tbh, less than Villa paid last season for Kodjia and less than Forest paid this season for Assombolanga.
Where was f***ing shite bag Jones the RIGHT back for there goal in the centre half position an utter waste of time how long are we going to put up with this areshole
