N'diaye

I'm not gonna knock the bloke and he needs time to settle in and far too early to give any sort of opinion on him either way. Having said that, anybody who says he was anything less than garbage yesterday is looking through rose-tinted glasses, but anyone can have a bad game.
As someone mentioned earlier on this thread, passing a ball 20 yards or hitting the target from close range have nothing to do with settling in, they're pure basics regardless of situation and he was poor with both yesterday.
I've no doubt he will improve over the next few games as he gets accustomed to the pace of the league but the basics he should be getting right straight away.

 this.

That chance where the whole of the goal was gaping and he ended up putting it wide at the near post was unreal. I just couldn't believe what I'd seen.

bloke stood infront of me had the best football rant I've ever heard after that moment

"FUCK OFF NDIAYE, YOU'RE f***ing SHIT, FUCK OFF BACK TO....... WHEREVER THE FUCK YOU'RE FROM YOU MELON":lol::lol:

The basics are easy to fuck up, if you're nervous or trying too hard, How many time have we seen top players miss an open goal, it happens, wasn't his best game, but people are going overboard with the criticism.

It is at times. I really think he will become a very decent player for us. Catts along side him will improve him.

You know, i heard exactly the same stuff spouted about Christian Riveros......blah, blah, blah.....World Cup player,......blah, blah, blah, once he adapts, ......blah , blah, blah give him time. I posted after i'd seen him 4 or 5 times (including international apps) that he wouldn't be able to adapt here and offered us nothing.

So bookmark this.....i'm saying N'Diaye is probably not an improvement on what we have.....which in itself is a pretty damning indictment given the paucity of talent occupying our centre-midfield.

Ok mate thats your opinion and your entitled to it. However, Alf has shown more in 3 games for SAFC than Riveros ever did. He will be very decent. Thats my opinion anyway.

His best spell was his first 45 mins......the midfield has been overrun since then.

He really hasn't though mate.

Mate, that is without doubt one of the finest points i've read on here.

I simply could not agree more. Possession and the wherewithall to do something with it is pivotal. Employ the big fuckers do win it then deploy the little fuckers to move it. We lack the ability to do either.

Your point about size is a good one - in many sports you have different sizes for different positions. Centre midfield is where the battle for possession takes place and that allows you to dictate where else on the pitch to exploit that advantage. At least one central midfielder should be able to apply that control the way a quarterback or fly half does, and typically that's usually required players between about 5 8 to 6 0 in size cos you need to be agile and skilful - think Wilshire as an archetype. Of course there are exceptions Diame looked good last night, maybe Alf will be an exception too, to be fair he is in at the deep end.

He was shoved on the right for half yesterday so can we write that last 45 off?

I'm happy for people to make excuses for the lad but i've watched enough football over 45 years to tell the difference between someone who needs a bit of time and someone who lacks the basic skills required for this league. I hope i'm wrong.....i hoped i was wrong about Riveros....about Wickham....about Cana...all indulged on here and all ultimately falling short.

Who's making excuses though mate?
He hasn't hit the ground running for consecutive games, unlike Sissoko, but I just think the lad deserves more time than 2.5 games, of which one he was MOTM.

Man of the half perhaps.....even that is pushing it. He has contributed jack shit since that first 45 mins against Wigan and our CM has been completely overrun in the 225 mins since.

This basically.

He was poor in the second half against Wigan, I put it down to tiredness and that is fair enough but even so, he was poor.

Everyone was poor in the second half, we got battered.

We aren't talking about everyone, we are talking about N'Diaye. Even if we were getting battered there's no justification for someone who can't pass the ball. You can defend him all you want but my opinion is based on the three games I have seen him in. It will change if he gets better but first impressions are not good.

Had he netted he'd have been acclaimed as our hero "Alfy", songs would be sung from the rooftops from Pennywell to Plains Farm and the streets of Reading would be awash with guzzling Northern hordes.

Had Chopra scored against the scum he would of been English instead of Indian;)

It's not just N'Diaye though is it? Some of the comments on here during the whole game were just plain moronic - players going from the best in the world to primary school level in the space of minutes and the number of 'look at me, I f***ing told you so' comments was downright embarrassing. I was upset by the result clearly but more annoyed by the drivel that was posted on here. Fickle doesn't even begin to describe it and it is getting worse all the time - somethingthat is not necessarily reflected in our results. We are very quickly becoming a bunch of whiners - not fans.
