Aye mate it’s a club policy. Dear me. Which number is it on the list like?

Yep, I think people have took that article as gospel and means the club are somehow trying to hide behind it.
CW has a view, which is fair enough. But his analysis will always be influenced by that view. When we were in league one, his view was 'there is no way that SAFC can be sustainable in league one'. He's now transitioned towards 'there is no way that SAFC can be sustainable in the championship'. I'd anticipate that it would then jump to 'there is no way that SAFC can be sustainable in the lower reaches of the PL' as and when we gain promotion. He's a fan and he wants SAFC to meet his expectation of what they 'should' be able to do ASAP. His articles attempt to justify that view.

Yes I know the view, it’s obvious, I think scrutiny and questions are fine, but I prefer a full view on the subject as it just sends people into a frenzy and the latch onto it, which is evident on threads since it came out.

Reminds me of the Peruzzi player we were supposed to be after under Di Canio... it think? After him for ages and just never happened.

Yes I think thats nearer the truth,I am hoping its just a case of us keeping our powder dry 🤞

The longer it goes on, the more likely we' could panic and just get anyone in. That said, there could be bargains to be had near the end when teams realise they don't want players around who won't play.

Great post, he’s had an agenda for a while and writes with that steer.

Does some great analysis, and I think it was useful in exposing Donald and co. but caution is advised imo.
Gino Peruzzi.

Aye, this. Not Angelo

I'm mindful of the word agenda as it has connotations. But there's no doubt that his articles serve his viewpoint. Otherwise he wouldn't be including headline grabbing statements like 'SAFC could lose £30m+ in 22/23 without breaching FFP' which is able to rev up the fanbase as it is completely shorn of context and any semblance of sensible governance. We could do that, of course, but we'd then be placing ourselves squarely in the crosshairs of the EFL if we failed - as that sort of behaviour would inevitably lead to a firesale in 23/24 if we missed out on promotion.

We are nowhere near breaching FFP. This is a false narrative. See Chris Weatherspoon’s analysis on this subject. Not ‘paying enough’ for a striker is club policy around financial discipline not an attempt to avoid breaking FFP rules.
Chris Weatherspoon's analysis was no more than speculation. Grumpy had an analysis which suggested we are closer to the limits of FFP. I guess you decide who's speculative analysis you choose to believe. However, to suggest that FFP doesn't affect every club's spending plans is firmly putting your head in the sand. As has been said many times clubs with parachute payments or clubs who have sold players for big fees will always be the big spenders in the EFL rather than the richest owners. Our crowds will help, but only to a limited extent.
