anyone a member? is it worth it? ie do you save more than you spend to join. How much stuff is there within an hour and a half's drive from here?

Anyone been to Holy Island? how much is it to park there and is it free parking if with the NT?

You have to park just as you arrive on the island unless you are stopping at one of the hotels. No idea how much it costs but cannot be that bad as its full every day.

I am a member and it is well worth it for me, I do a lot of visiting though.

Holy Island - NT is the castle only, the Abbey is English Heritage and car parking is about £3 for 3 hours.

I live within a few miles of Brimham Rocks and Fountains Abbey so get my money back with those on their own, others are a bonus.

Quite a few places in the NE for NT including Cragside which is an excellent day out.

We joined a few weeks back actually. Depending on how many places you want to visit you can make big savings.

Gibside, where we were, is something like £10 to get in, I think others are similar prices, but you can get a couples membership for something like £35 each for a year. So the more you use it the better it gets!

i always join the wrong one (either NT or EH) and the attraction is always the other:neutral:

Well worth it if you will get out and about to the sites. I've been a member for four years now and have not made the most of it but keep it up as happy to contribute.

Got an offer on at the minute, IIRC around £69 for a years membership for 2 people if you pay by DD
We got offered this up at Hadrians Wall during the week, considering taking it up.

Definitely worth doing, especially if you've got kids. And NT properties tend not to attract the sort of scratters you find on Roker Beach at the first sight of sun!

Try the Lindisfarne Hotel and have a sandwich and a scone.......the owner is Flanders off the Simpsons apart from he is anything but religious !

there is the link to the price list. £66 for my family, it's a bargain really. has anyone been up to Hadrians wall/ housesteads fort.

Was up there last week!! Great afternoon. Also visited Vindolanda as well!! Museum at Housteads is shite thoug, with not much in it. Museum at Vindolanda is much better. They found a load of writing tablets from the era the Romans were in charge, plus loads of other artifacts. If you pay extra there you get entry into the Roman Army museum which is about 10 mins along the road from both sites
