Getting an inter-rail pass? Enjoy, that's adventurousI wouldn't mind doing a greyhound bus tour of the states, had a friend who did it and he met lots of interesting characters.
Every country I’ve travelled on a train their service has been better than the UK’s. Comfortable, spacious, relaxed and most importantly running to schedule.
Honestly do it.
There is something wonderful about sitting in a small train station in Austria on a summer afternoon, clock ticking, mountains towering above, waiting for the train to pull in and take you to Italy or wherever you want.

Yes looking at that
You haven't been on the circumvesuviana then. It's the line from Sorrento to Naples. That was an experience!
We've done Durham to Paris in a day by train which was canny
I had that booked for my Mam's 70th birthday as it's a few days before Christmas. I had the horse and cart booked at sunset on her actual birthday, so she'd have been trotting round, drinking wine and looking at all the Christmas lights coming on. Then covid happened and it was cancelled. I was devastated!
I’d recommend them mate as use of travel if it’s within a few hrs .We just have the breakfast on the morning as soon as we get to the destination we are out for some drinks and something really nice to eat .Pleased I bumped this. Loads of inspiration for a short trip whether it be with national holidays (I’ve been on one before only down to skipton market and the lakes, and was a canny little trip) or be further afield.
I’m also a bandwagon jumping fool and you kinda have to hate Jimmy.Jeffers, Ha'way man, your one of Life's good guys, a tousle haired free spirit, a child of the wind, there's no place in your heart for hate, let it go mate, let it go![]()
That’s what we did, hotel was near Boltons ground so missed the meal and went to the pics in that retail park next to it.I’d recommend them mate as use of travel if it’s within a few hrs .We just have the breakfast on the morning as soon as we get to the destination we are out for some drinks and something really nice to eat .
Skip the evening meal in the hotel as they are shite and who wants to hang round a hotel all night ?
The back drop of all the amazing government buildings adds to them along with the huge ice rinks. Cracking place imo. Easy to navigate narl what with it being pretty much one big ring road.I remember you saying - such a shame. If you want to do the Xmas markets with your mam I recommend Vienna mind, not been to any that beats it although I do love Bratislava's small, compact and the best atmosphere of all the ones we do

Don't you just love foreign rail prices? 500 mile round trip for the same price as a return from Middlesbrough to Carlisle, rip off Britain.Just buy locally
Budapest to Bratislava 27quid
Bratislava to Vienna is 40 quid return on the train or 13 on the bus and it takes the same time
Bratislava to Brno is 7 quid (bonus stop)
Brno to Prague is 9 quid
Prague to Berlin is 27 quid
Aye fair point. I meant the ones I've used in Europe. Used them in Egypt about 25 years ago and they were dilapidated stinky things massively overcrowded.Try India
