It makes sense for him and for Everton if he signs a new deal.

He gets the protection of better money while they get to loan him out and see how he develops and/or get a better fee.

Loan probably makes more sense given his injury record. If he plays 25+ games and looks up to the standard then we can hopefully sign him next summer.
That would an ideal situation for everyone involved, it's great news Everton want to keep him to settle the argument, IO bet AN would just prefer to get him rather than keep chasing and missing out on strikers. Frank's instructions will be relatively simple, score 20 goals for SAFC and you'll be starting in my team next season, even if we are relegated. Don't score 20 then SAFC can keep you. Gives everyone what they want, we get our man, he gets further developed, Frank gets time to strengthen.

And Frank will be out of a job in six weeks if results don't go well..

What level of high maintenance ?

There been a lot of bluster on social media and on this board but that’s about it.
Just seems that way from the outside looking in. Seems like he needs to be cajoled and enticed to actually put on his boots. This impression has been supported to an extent from quotes by Johnson etc. But yeah, I take your point that I don't know.

Surely a loan deal suits everyone.
In theory aye. If it’s a loan I think we’re better off exploring other options though. Whether that be permanent or on loan.
I think we need a reliable option there. He was probably worth the risk for a relatively low fee as if he was to prove his fitness we’d at least have a chance of making money from the deal, a loan just leaves us with the same problem next year.
