Names on Shirt

Striker
I was in the Sunderland shop getting "The King" number 7, printed on the back of my replica shirt today, several others had asked for the same. Has anyone else personalised their shirt ahead of the big match on Sunday? If so, what did you get?

The king 7 too

Good lad, there were 8 others getting his name on their shirts today when I was there. One of them entertained us whilst we queued by reinacting the King's goal and celebration against Burton, unfortunately he blasted the ball off an unsuspecting shopper and was forced to leave before he got to the front. Wasn't you I take it.

Charlie Hurley didn't wear 7

What's your point marra?

No wasn't me. I turned up about 17 mins after, the club were laughing about it and also said they were almost out of the letter Gs because of the king requests.

Gutted I missed that now, would have made it to see it too but I stupidly travelled to the galleries outlet forgetting it was closed.

Sunderland already have a king, and the king isn't dead.

Maguire is not fit to lace etc...in fact he's so far down the list of our best players it's laughable.

Very good third tier player, but nothing more.

It's Maguire's nickname mate and it's well deserved.

Have you had your replica top personalised?

CH may not be known to younger fans who like Maguire. Iv no memory of Jim Baxter or 1973 as I wasnt born. Respect is paid where due but you cant expect all supporters under 30 to know who CH is.

Look, I wasn't being serious but surely any SAFC fan worth his salt has heard of Charlie Hurley. He's even appeared on the pitch at the SoL a couple of times, is one of our most famous former players, player of the 20th century, and had our former training facility named after him. He's also featured in various places around the SoL. His nickname is The King and to call anyone else that name is IMO a bit lacking in imagination. But despite having written all that I don't care that much what you have on your shirt.

I just find it bizarre that people want to use that nickname for a fairly ordinary lower league player, when we've had so many better ones even in the last ten years or so. He's been here one season and isn't even our best player right now.
