Played for Durham in both of their T20 warm-up games at South North today according to the official Twitter. Is it Johann who used to be at Hampshire? Is he on trial?

Aye, was obviously told wrong. Although those games listed weren't there yesterday.

The Myburgh Durham have signed on a month contract for T20 is Johann G Myburgh. Played for Hants last season after a few seasons in NZ where he was repoted as qualified for the NZ squad. There is nothing to indicate how he was qualified and equally his appearance at Hants wasx not as a Kolpak or o/seas player. As his brother is playing for the Netherlands one assumes there is a parent or grandparent of European extraction that entitles him to plat 1st class cricket without a visa etc in the UK.
Impressive batting av but only 79 first class games at 31 yrs old. One wonders why? He did not set Hants alight in the their relegation season last year and was dropped early on.

Cricinfo report him as the 2nd overseas T 20 player for Durham

Cricinfo are wrong Durham havec confirmed he has a European qualification

"Johann qualifies as european so is not classified as a second overseas.

We're on the bus now and the weather is brightening!"

He hopes to find out soon if he will get an LVCC contract.
